RYTMAN’S REAL TIME RAW REPORT

Ok.  There’s an interesting start.  Vickie Guerrero was the RAW General Manager at the time, so there are several references to her in this review of WWE’s flagship show.  As for the blow-up dolls, apparently John Cena was talking about what the people in the audience do on Sundays, and for one gentleman, that entailed waking up surrounded by bodily fluids, a reciept for two blow-up dolls (one missing), and posting embarassing photos to Twitter.

WWE RAW 6/2/14: Payback for Payback?

I knew exactly what I would find when I searched for this myself – because I’m the one who wrote the article(s) it comes up with.  Earlier this year at WWE Payback, Stephanie McMahon wore a blue dress, and as she’s leaving the ring, there appears to be a wet spot on the back of it.  I referenced this in the next three RAW reviews, apparently, but this was the one immediately after the event in question.

WWE RAW 4/7/14 – RAWstleMania!

Sorry, pervs, there’s no picture of Paige’s private parts on this page.  Hooray for alliteration!  On the always entertaining post-WrestleMania edition of RAW, NXT Diva Paige debuted and won the WWE Diva’s Championship from AJ Lee.  Later in the show, the fans chanted “pussy” at Jack Swagger, which I helpfully pointed out is short for pusillanimous, which means showing a lack of courage or determination, or timid.  You’re welcome.

In 2011, I attended an episode of Monday Night RAW in Buffalo during the feud leading up to the Miz/John Cena match at WrestleMania XXVII.  During the event, Cena came out to the ring to confront The Miz and his then-apprentice Alex Riley, and he made several homophobic jokes at the duo, leading our dear friend Rich Flynn to write an article about it.  Rich’s article is easily the most popular one ever written on this site.  In the days to come, GLAAD would speak up about not only this incident, but others where Cena would question The Rock’s sexuality as well. This was relayed to our readers by Drowgoddess, re-opening a discussion on the subject in our comments.

Well.  That explains why those searches got people here (and inevitably more people now that the exact phrases are used in this article).  What it doesn’t explain is why people were searching for these things in the first place.  I guess we’ll never know.

What?

Monday night after RAW, the WWE Network aired a special “Stone Cold Podcast,” where Steve Austin’s guest was WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.  At the end of the show, Austin asked Mr. McMahon where people could go to offer suggestions for WWE.  Vince claims he listens to his audience, referring to the live audience, but Austin insisted that they could send their thoughts to the WWE and Vince McMahon’s Twitter accounts.  I saw a great post from @KellettFilm on Twitter with a list of things he would like to see, and I agreed with a lot of his list, and some of his things, in my own words, may show up here.  That said, here is my idea of what I’d personally like to see from World Wrestling Entertainment.

First and foremost, I think Monday Night RAW needs to revert back to two hours.  Or even 90 minutes.  Quite frankly, it is extremely difficult for the current product to hold my attention for that much time every week, sometimes twice a week.  Three hours should be reserved for Pay Per View events every few months.

Yes, every few months.  I think we need far less than 13 Pay Per View events per year.  We did just fine with just four or five.  The fact that they’re changing the Elimination Chamber event in February to something else is indicative of the fact that it’s very difficult to make the Royal Rumble mean something if five other guys that didn’t win the Rumble are getting a shot before WrestleMania inside the Chamber.

I’d love to have more long term story arcs.  I’ve been watching the early Monday Night RAWs on the WWE Network, and you could see the seeds planted for WrestleMania X back before even Survivor Series in November of 1993.  SummerSlam 1994 angles were developing by the Royal Rumble of that year.  And I never had to watch Owen Hart wrestle Bret Hart during their year long angle except during those Pay Per View events they had matches on (the debut of WWE Action Zone notwithstanding).

I’d like for WWE SmackDown to go back to being a show where angles continue, like it was when it first started in 1999.  Which is another reason we don’t need three hours for RAW.  If we have something booked for RAW; for example, the debut of The New Day; don’t put it on SmackDown three days earlier.  And stop having matches on SmackDown for the sake of having a rematch on RAW the next Monday.  I don’t watch SmackDown now because I don’t feel like I’m missing anything.

I’d like the Intercontinental Championship to mean more.  Randy Savage and Ricky Steamboat made that title feel just as important, if not moreso, than the WWE Championship in 1987.  At one point, the title was considered a springboard to the WWE Championship, a platform that in their current roles I can’t see Dolph Ziggler or Luke Harper attaining anytime in the near future (though, both of them should certainly be future WWE World Heavyweight Champions).

I feel the United States Championship should either be defended more often or disbanded altogether.  What did Dean Ambrose have, 5, maybe 6 defenses in his record setting title reign?

No more authority figures, especially heels.  I’ve written at length about the subject before, and I still feel as strongly about it then as I do now.  It was suggested that maybe a more Jack Tunney-like authority figure, who rules from his office and only speaks on issues when absolutely necessary may be a way to go, and I agree with that.

While we’re at it, how about less talking altogether?  Austin mentioned in the Network podcast that he feels the opening segments of RAW go on far too long.  I get we’re trying to establish characters and rivalries in an effort to make the fans care more.  I feel it can be done quicker.  And on the subject, no more promos to open a Pay Per View.  I don’t care if I only paid $9.99, or if I paid the full $65, this isn’t Monday Night RAW, I paid for wrestling.  WRESTLING.

WRESTLING.  It’s not a dirty word.  It’s what these guys and girls who have made it here have worked their asses off to do.  Yes, I get that it’s “sports entertainment,” and I don’t have an issue with the term.  I have an issue with the fact that we’ve somehow made “wrestling” something we’re not allowed to say.  And I’m not a Universe, I’m a fan, dammit!

Look, I understand the point of being a publicly traded company and that seven hours of original programming is a lot for any writing staff, but can we hire some writers who are wrestling fans and may actually agree with some of these ideas?  I understand that competition is any other form of entertainment, but you’re not any other form of entertainment, you are wrestling.

And the final thing that I’d like to ask of WWE is to please not screw up NXT.  Keep doing what you’re doing there.

That’s not to say that WWE RAW was bad last night.  At least, not compared to most other weeks.  The problem isn’t that RAW was boring last night.  It’s that RAW is boring every week.

So how do we fix this?

The one thing my wife kept saying to me last night is that three hours is too long.  As I sat there in section 226, row 5, seat 12, I agreed with her.  But as I thought about it more through the night and into the morning, I realize that the length of the show can’t be the problem.  Every couple of months or so, I head out to watch my local indie promotion, Empire State Wrestling.  This tiny wrestling company based in North Tonawanda, NY regularly puts on three hour shows, and we’re regularly entertained from the opening bell of the undercard to the time the bell rings to end the main event.

So why can ESW entertain me for three straight hours, while WWE can’t?

Enter into my argument the WWE Network.  At any given time, I can watch episodes of RAW from the Attitude Era, and for two solid hours, I’m entertained.  Why?  What do those old episodes of RAW and ESW have that modern episodes of Monday Night RAW don’t?

The answer is simple, really.  They have an undercard that they’ve allowed people to care about.  Back in 1999, there was nobody on the show that didn’t have some kind of story going on.  The titles were defended on a regular basis, and you believed that anybody on the roster could win a match on any given night.  That’s true of Attitude Era RAW, and it’s true of ESW (and your local indie too, I’d imagine).

Last night, Heath Slater and Curtis Axel had matches on the Superstars taping.  Titus O’Neil and Zack Ryder both had matches on RAW.  Not for a second did I expect any of them to win their matches.  And they all lost.  The exception to that rule, of course, was Tyson Kidd beating Sheamus by count out.  And even then, he got a Brogue Kick for his trouble.

The fact is, it’s hard to care about guys like those.  Guys who lose all the time, and still wind up lying in a heap in the middle of the ring when they do win.  I’m a huge Heath Slater fan, but I can’t find a reason to cheer for the guy when I know WWE is going to job him out anyway.

The era of the Barry Horowitzes, Barry Hardys, Duane Gills and Brooklyn Brawlers was the 80’s and early 90’s.  That’s the past.  I want to see a match where I know both guys have a chance to win.  If I were tasked to fix WWE right now and make RAW enjoyable for three hours again, I would start by taking undercard guys like Slater, Axel, O’Neil, Ryder, Kidd, Justin Gabriel, Adam Rose, and the other guys you don’t expect to win, and give them matches amongst each other.  Midcard guys like Sheamus, Cesaro, Dolph Ziggler, Erick Rowan, Luke Harper, Rusev – those are my guys who are competing with each other for the chance to challenge for the Intercontinental or United States Championships.  I would want my audience to believe that any superstar has a chance to win any given match.  Occasionally you have a main eventer wrestle an undercard guy with no shot at winning as a tune-up match or something, but for the most part they stay away from one another.

Is it a perfect solution?  Probably not, but at least I’m trying to think of a way to make the undercard matter to fans.  WWE needs to do that.  But for now, I’ll stay confident in knowing that I’ll pay far less money for far better seats and actually be entertained for a full three hours on Saturday, November 22nd when I attend ESW WrestleBash in Lockport, NY.

1) ECW One Night Stand 2005

The brainchild of Rob Van Dam, ECW One Night Stand was intended, as the name implies, to be a one night reunion of the original ECW.  Many questions were raised about the WWE’s ability to recreate the look and feel of the original ECW, but with Paul Heyman’s guidance, and an old ECW haunt, the Hammerstein Ballroom, serving as the backdrop, the stars of ECW shined once again.  In the main event, The Dudley Boyz (in their final WWE appearance) teamed to defeat Tommy Dreamer and The Sandman.  WWE stars were in attendance at the event, “invaders” from RAW and SmackDown.  At the end of the show, ECW alum “Stone Cold” Steve Austin invited them to the ring – where they were trounced by the ECW stars.  The brawl led to a brief return to WWE television of the Blue World Order, as JBL legitimately punched The Blue Meanie, re-opening a wound Meanie had suffered at an earlier event.  Meanie would go on to defeat JBL on a later episode of Friday Night Smackdown.

 2) ECW One Night Stand 2006

The first One Night Stand was so successful, not only did WWE bring back the event for a second consecutive year, but they brought back ECW as a complimentary brand to RAW and SmackDown.  Once again emanating from the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, ECW One Night Stand 2006 saw the inclusion of WWE stars that had never been a part of ECW before, including Kurt Angle, who was chosen by Paul Heyman to be a part of the new ECW, which debuted two nights later.  ECW alum Rey Mysterio defended his World Heavyweight Championship against ECW Original Sabu, a match that ended in a no contest – something you wouldn’t see in the original ECW.  A six-person tag team match pitting Mick Foley, Edge, and Lita against Tommy Dreamer, Terry Funk, and Beulah McGillicutty was a very hardcore highlight and worth re-living.  But it was the main event, pitting WWE Champion John Cena against Rob Van Dam, who was cashing in his Money In The Bank contract, that was most memorable.  With the referee unconscious, a man in a motorcycle helmet – later revealed to be Edge – speared John Cena, leaving him prone for a Five Star Frog Splash.  With no referee in sight, ECW Representative Heyman made the count, declaring Rob Van Dam the new ECW Champion.

3) ECW on SciFi 6/13/06

The premiere episode of ECW on SciFi took place from the Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, NJ.  It was a mix between the old ECW and the what ECW would become.  The show kicked off with The Zombie, who cut a zombie-like promo before being destroyed by The Sandman.  The vampire character Kevin Thorne made his first appearance on this episode as well.  Kelly Kelly debuted as an exhibitionist – yet failed to figure out how to take her bra off during her strip routine.  Rob Van Dam was awarded the ECW Championship belt by Paul Heyman, but opted to keep the WWE Championship as well, because “it spins.”

4) ECW on SciFi 8/1/06

When ECW returned to the Hammerstein Ballroom on August 1st for ECW on SciFi, the landscape of ECW had changed.  Rob Van Dam and Sabu were arrested on marijuana related charges, and as such, RVD lost both the WWE Championship (to Edge) and the ECW Championship (to The Big Show) prior to serving a 30 day suspension.  The New York City crowd, very accustomed to the original ECW, as it had run in the venue numerous times, were raucous all night.  This episode features CM Punk’s first televised match as he took on ECW veteran Justin Credible.  Kurt Angle returned to face – of all people – The Brooklyn Brawler.  The reason to watch this show, at least for me, is to hear the crowd pick apart the main event, which saw Batista challenge The Big Show for the ECW Championship.  Vintage ECW, it was not.  The fans in the arena were booing loudly, chanting things such as “you both suck” and “change the channel.”  To make it perfectly clear that this wasn’t the renegade promotion of the 90’s, Big Show lost via disqualification when he hit Batista with the ECW Championship.  Sabu hit the ring to lay waste to The Big Show, but this episode laid waste the notion that ECW as we knew it would ever return.

5) ECW December To Dismember 2006

In 2003, WWE began promoting it’s smaller Pay Per View events as being presented by RAW or SmackDown, and featuring only matches from that event’s brand.  The ECW brand finally got it’s own Pay Per View on Sunday, December 3, 2006 as it presented December to Dismember.  This event is on this list purely for the masochist in you.  At a time when WWE Pay Per View cards were finalized and advertised for weeks in advance, December to Dismember was not.  Only two matches were advertised prior to this event – The Hardys presented an open challenge to any tag team, and an Extreme Elimination Chamber match, which was advertised to feature ECW Champion The Big Show defending against Rob Van Dam, Bobby Lashley, CM Punk, Test, and Sabu, who was taken out prior to the match and replaced with Hardcore Holly.  The fans in Augusta, GA’s James Brown Center weren’t too happy with the change.  This Pay Per View event drew 4,800 fans to the live event and 90,000 PPV buys – the lowest in WWE history.  This event was the impetus for killing the branded Pay Per Views, and it’s the reason Paul Heyman, scapegoated for the poor buyrate, left WWE, not to be seen in the wrestling industry for the next six years.

6) ECW on SciFi 4/14/09

By 2009, ECW became nothing more than a glorified developmental territory for the WWE.  However, much like NXT today, that didn’t mean there weren’t good quality wrestling matches.  This episode in particular, from the Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, TN, featured one of the matches that I considered the Match of the Year for 2009, a great battle between John Morrison and Evan Bourne.

There are a lot more that I could include here, but I’m hard pressed to think of what they are at the moment.  I’ll return with more things to watch on the WWE Network very, very soon!

Thank you for finally bringing WrestleMania back to the Northeast.  It’s been 9 long years.  I appreciate the fact that I can actually realistically hope to go to WrestleMania next year without spending too much on traveling to the host city.  That said, however, I’m a little bit baffled at your choice of stadium.  We’re all impressed with the new state-of-the-art Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, which is of course home to the New York Jets, and Super Bowl Champion New York Giants, but perhaps that level of impressiveness has proven to be deceitful.  You see, for years I had assumed that Buffalo would never get a WrestleMania for the sheer fact that we have an outdoor stadium in a place where, even on April 7th, the weather isn’t all that great.  Apparently, I was mistaken.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that New York State is more than just that little island there right off the coast of New Jersey.  I can see how you would get confused, however, since our own state capital, Albany, apparently doesn’t know that either. My complaint isn’t that you’re bringing WrestleMania back home to the New York City area, it’s that you’re doing it in an outdoor venue in a cold-weather climate, and that I’m sure Buffalo wasn’t even a consideration.  You guys are here twice a year, let’s face it, you know just as well as we do that Buffalo’s economy could certainly use the $62 Million boost more than New York City and East Rutherford.

We’ve got passionate wrestling fans here.  We sell out every Pay Per View you bring our way.  And we do big events right.  Just ask the Pittsburgh Penguins, who were here as part of the NHL’s first ever Winter Classic.  If you are unfamiliar with the NHL, that’s the National Hockey League.  You know, the sport The Goon played.  I know you just did a huge press conference for WrestleMania XXIX in Jersey, and they can have it, that’s fine, but if it goes off without a hitch, I highly ask that you please consider bringing WrestleMania to Buffalo.  We could use the economic boost much more than the cities you’ve been bringing WrestleMania to lately, and our fans would make sure you didn’t regret the decision for a moment.

I also wanted to jump to CM Punk and Daniel Bryan’s defense.  I wouldn’t blame this week’s low ratings on them.  Monday Night Football was plagued by power problems and the game ran much later than usual, with playoff implications for the Steelers, one of the more popular teams in the NFL.  Let’s see how things play out for the two Champions before jumping to conclusions.

Personally, I went on Twitter immediately after I watched last night’s show and mentioned that I felt like last night’s show was solid from top to bottom, and after re-watching it today with my wife I’m standing by that tweet.  The fact is, the internet wrestling community (IWC) doesn’t know what they want.  The same people who tune in to TNA and time the matches so they can jump on the internet and point out that there was only 10 minutes of wrestling in a two hour program are the same ones that I see right now saying that this episode of RAW, where the talking was kept to a minimum, was terrible.

Every performer on last night’s show put on a solid performance.  The IWC doesn’t seem to think so, and I’d like to think that it’s because they’re so jaded about everything that the WWE does nowadays.  John Cena has proven time and time again – despite the fact that I boo the hell out of his character – that he’s a solid performer and can have a good match with most of the guys on the roster, yet no matter how good of a match he has, you’ll still hear about the “five moves of doom.”  The Divas have all been working very hard on their in-ring work, but as soon as they’re on television, the IWC collectively says “piss break!”

The biggest criticism I’ve seen of last night’s show was the ending.  Oh no, “Super Cena” just beat Awesome Truth all by himself, why does he even need to bother with The Rock at Survivor Series?  What show are you watching?  Cena beat The Miz, then while Miz was incapacitated, R-Truth tried to attack him, but got caught and ate an AA for his trouble.  That’s not Cena beating up two guys at once, that’s Cena beating two guys back to back.  If it were Awesome Truth against Cena by himself, Cena gets beat down.  See last week’s RAW for proof.

What bugs me is that if ROH did the exact same finish – let’s say with Davey Richards in the John Cena role, and members of The House of Truth in Awesome Truth’s place – these same people who are criticizing Cena would be praising Richards for outsmarting the opposition.  You know I’m right.

This is what I want.  I want all of my fellow members of the IWC to get off of their little cloud, and watch RAW back as a FAN and not as a cynical asshole desensitized to the business by the internet, and tell me what the hell was so wrong with last night’s show.

I don’t know why, but I absolutely loathe John Laurinaitis.  I feel that it’s more than just the character, I think I actually despise John Laurinaitis the person.  Over the past couple of months I didn’t mind him so much, but as soon as he was appointed “Interim RAW GM,” I started to hate his very being.  And the strange thing is, I don’t think it’s his fault that I hate him at all.  What I really hate, is heel authority figures in wrestling.

The first couple of times, ok cool.  Now, it’s just stale.  It’s old.  I can’t stand it.  This is wrestling.  I’m supposed to be rooting for the good guy and booing the bad guy, not rooting for the good guy and booing the good guy’s boss.  If I wanted to boo a good guy’s boss, I’d march into my boss’s office with my thumb down.

Look, I get the idea that we’re all supposed to hate our boss, and that when the good guy’s boss finally gets his comeuppance, we’re all supposed to cheer because we’re living vicariously through our favorite Superstar.  I actually like my boss.  Sure, sometimes I think I’d like to hit him with a Stone Cold Stunner, but most of the time I think I’d rather share a couple of Steveweisers with him (WHAT?).

The fact is, we’ve been doing this same angle for 15 years now.  For everything the WWE is doing right – pushing the tag team division, bringing back managers and stables – this is one of the wrongs.  There was a time when I’d tune in to WWE programming because I liked the wrestling.  A promo here or there and a very rare post-match beatdown went a long way back in those days.  Now, we have an hour of promos on a two hour program and a beatdown after every match – almost literally in the case of last night’s RAW – and they’ve lost their effectiveness.

I think what we need in mainstream wrestling – WWE, specifically – is a face authority figure (Teddy Long doesn’t count) who will restore order.  Post-match beatdown?  $250,000 fine.  The effectiveness will eventually be rebuilt because the only time we’d see a post-match beatdown is when somebody dislikes a guy so much that they’ll gladly pay a quarter of a million bucks to get in a few extra shots at them.  Is it a perfect suggestion?  Maybe not, but at least I’m trying to come up with something different.

For now, I think I’ll vote with my remote control – I’m considering not watching wrestling until they replace Laurinaitis as RAW GM.  That’s how strongly I feel about this crap.

It is because the WWE Superstars and Divas are in Buffalo as I type this, just a few short miles from my home, that I sent out the very first fax on BoredWrestlingFan.com company letterhead.  Hell, before today there was no such thing as BWF company letterhead.  The fax was to WWE Media Credentials, a request to interview WWE Superstars and Divas for the site.  As it’s Friday and the show is Sunday, I highly doubt I’m going to get a positive response to this particular request, but I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to get our staff in good at future events.

There is another event that I have my eye on covering coming up next month.  I will report back as soon as I have any confirmation or denial with more details of what that particular event is.  Stay tuned.

The last time I made an appearance here at BoredWrestlingFan was the RAW Roulette edition of WWE RAW.  Nobody remembers that stupid gimmick from that night, however, because that was the night that CM Punk closed the show with the most scathing, blistering promo in perhaps professional wrestling history.  What, did you think I was going to start this off any other way than talking about the hottest angle in all of wrestling right now?  For a week, Punk was gone, with his name barred from WWE programming and WWE.com.  He showed up at Wrigley Field with the title to a Cubs game.   He showed up at Comic-Con with the WWE Championship to taunt Rey Mysterio and Triple H.  He showed up on Jimmy Kimmel Live with the WWE Championship to mess with Kimmel’s nephew, a John Cena fan.  And finally, he showed up on RAW.

It’s only been a week.  Milk that shit as long as possible.  I know we’re only three weeks away from SummerSlam and that CM Punk vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship is the huge match that we’re building towards.  But Mysterio & Cena are hugely popular WWE Superstars, and we could have a great match between them at the biggest WWE show of the summer.  CM Punk could come out afterward waving the WWE Championship in the face of Cena, who knows that he’s not truly the WWE Champion, despite officially being heralded as such.  Then we could build to Survivor Series.  Slow builds in wrestling can work if they’re done right.  Have Punk go anywhere you can get him with the title.  Book him on indy shows, book him on late night talk shows, give him tickets to WWE live events and have him sit there with the WWE Championship over his shoulder, taunting the company he walked out on with their own championship.  Let Cena get more and more frustrated with knowing that he’s got to prove he can beat CM Punk by the week, and have Punk finally agree to prove that he’s the best in the world when he faces John Cena in November at the Survivor Series.  Don’t have him “quit” the company and then show up on TV a week later in his wrestling gear, that’s ridiculous.

All that said, I’m very happy to have my favorite current WWE Superstar back on television, and also to have the opportunity to buy one of those awesome t-shirts!

Other thoughts:

I still love the Z! True Long Island Story.  I started watching around episode 10, went back and watched all the previous ones, and haven’t missed one since.  Can’t wait for Episode 24 later on today!  Woo Woo Woo, You Know It!

Is R-Truth not the second best character on WWE television at the moment?  If you’ve been on this site prior to his heel turn, you’d know that’s a complete 180 from what any of us thought of him as a face.  He plays the crazy gimmick so well, and I’m rooting for him to get his first WWE Championship sometime after the Punk/Cena feud runs it’s course.

Lastly, I have some recommended reading for you on the topic of CM Punk from former WWE writer Dave Lagana.  In the first part of the article he talks about the WWE Legend who saved CM Punk’s WWE career.  In part two, he talks about how CM Punk went from being a blip on Vince McMahon’s proverbial radar to becoming the ECW Champion.  Part three should be posted later today.  Check it out here.

You see, June 9th is rapidly approaching.

“Welcome!  you’ve found my little crawlspace on the world wide web where I rant and rave about all things professional wrestling.  It’s not 100% ready for the world yet, but it will be in just a few days, so stay tuned!”

That’s what I wrote on June 9, 2008 – the very first post here on BoredWrestlingFan.com.  The very next night, I started writing about RAW, ECW, SmackDown, and iMPACT every week, just for the sake of doing so.  If somebody found the site and liked it, cool, but it wasn’t important.  Eventually, I started missing some reviews, and wanting some original content on the site, and over the past three years, I’ve gathered up the greatest writing staff anybody could ask for, and we keep this site running week in and week out, for the sake of sharing our opinions on our favorite pseudo-sport with the rest of the world.  I could never do this alone – the BWF crew is just as big a part of this site as the people and organizations that we write about.

It’s still about discussing wrestling through the eyes of fans here at BWF.  We never claim to be “insiders.”  We’re BoredWrestlingFan.com – written by Bored Wrestling Fans, written for Bored Wrestling Fans.  A big thank you goes out to my entire crew for keeping that vision alive, and an even bigger thank you goes out to those of you who visit our site for commenting, following us on Twitter and Facebook, and making the work we put into this worthwhile.  It’s been a great first three years, and we’re only getting started!

Edge had everything you could want in a professional wrestler.  He had great mic skills, he was amazing to watch in the ring, and he managed to evolve along with the business he lived his life for over the past fourteen years.  For all fourteen of those, I’ve been an Edgehead.  How could you not be?  He always had the coolest entrance in the business, whether it was coming in through the crowd at the beginning of his WWE career, rising up through a ring of fire with The Brood, or emerging through a cloud of smoke to the heavy metal laden sounds of Rob Zombie’s “Never Gonna Stop” or Alter Bridge’s “Metallingus.”  And that’s just to get you pumped up for the spectacle you’d be about to witness.

Shawn Michaels – my absolute favorite wrestler of all time, for what it’s worth – defined the Ladder Match with Scott Hall.  Edge, along with Christian, The Hardys, and The Dudleys, redefined it.  Throw in some tables and chairs, and it becomes his match, the TLC Match.  Edge innovated in Hardcore matches with Mick Foley at WrestleMania 22 and ECW One Night Stand 2, showing that he’d have been a huge star in the original ECW if he’d opted to ply his trade there.  Edge defined the Money In The Bank Ladder Match, and earned the nickname “The Ultimate Opportunist,” and that’s just his resume in stipulation matches.  He’s also, for what it’s worth, undefeated in Last Man Standing matches.

Even without weapons, Edge was a deadly foe in the ring.  He could beat you any way he wanted to.  Edgecution.  Edgeucator.  Edge-o-matic.  And of course, his weapon of choice toward the end of his career, the Spear.  A Ten-Time World Champion.  That’s not something that just any bum off the streets can pull off – that’s an indication that you are one of the best in the world at this profession.  To retire as Champion is unheard of – there goes Adam Copeland innovating this business again.

My hat goes off to Edge for knowing that his body cannot continue to take the abuse that he puts it through night in and night out on the road for the WWE.  Thank you, Adam “Edge” Copeland, for entertaining me week in and week out for the last fourteen years.  We’ll miss you!

The dark match last night was Tyson Kidd taking on former NXT rookie Percy Watson.  Surprisingly, Watson picked up the win.  He looked a little different than I remember him, but of course I was in the very last row of the 300 level, so my vision might have been off a bit.

SPOILER ALERT: If you watch “Superstars” on Thursday and wish to not be spoiled, please skip the next two paragraphs…

Superstars kicked off with a match between R-Truth and William Regal, in which Truth picked up the victory.

That was followed by a tag team match pitting Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov (with Tamina) against Zack Ryder and Primo.  Of course you know, Santino pinned Ryder after hitting the Cobra.  Fellow fans on the bus were discussing the effectiveness of The Cobra on the way back home from the show.

We love Triple H here in Buffalo.  We knew better than to expect The Undertaker, so at least where I was sitting, nobody was terribly upset that he hadn’t shown up.  We were all surprised by the immediate beat-down of Sheamus, who incidentally made his RAW debut in the HSBC Arena.

We also love Evan Bourne – great to see him back and looking in top form!

Michael Cole headed down to the ring, and what you guys didn’t see was that the crew came back out to set the announce table back up and Cole actually walked to the back.  Probably to generate a little more heat coming back from the break.  My attempts at starting an “AND I QUOTE” chant were futile.

Yours truly now owns a New Nexus t-shirt.  I was debating whether to get this one or The Miz’s “Hello, I’m Awesome” t-shirt but ultimately settled for this, as I’m a huge Punk mark.  I think I’m the only one though – it was a decidedly pro-Orton crowd.  Aly didn’t use this one in her review, but I tweeted “Why doesn’t the GM do something?  The damned match was over!” after Orton kicked McGuillicutty in the head.  Guess we won’t be seeing him for a while.

I absolutely love the fact that people can’t stand The Miz.  This is not “X-Pac heat” he’s getting, this is legit heel heat.  The man is doing his job, and everything he said during his promo about how he’s the WWE Champion and should be the focus of the company, not Cena and The Rock, is absolutely true.  Of course, then John Cena came out and ruined it by making poop and pee jokes – not to mention spewing enough homophobic rhetoric that I’m surprised GLAAD isn’t all over him today.  I’m surprised he didn’t finish up with the old Seinfeld line, “Not that there’s anything wrong with that.”  Of course, this was all to set up the main event – a cage match between Cena and Alex Riley.  Yes, Alex Riley main evented RAW last night.

So then we got a Divas Battle Royal.  All of the participants and guest commentator Eve made it to the ring with about 30 seconds left before the commercial break ended.  That’s how much they care about the Divas on RAW.  And of course, the Bellas won with predictable ending number 37: Twin Magic.

Now, the next segment.  The next segment is going to be the subject of this week’s “A Minute With ThinkSoJoE,”   so I’m only going to touch on it briefly – Screw The Rock.

At least Shawn Michaels wasn’t publicized to be a part of the show beforehand, and his segment was kept short.  I still say I could’ve stayed home and watched RAW on TV for free instead of paying $70 for two tickets and watching it on TV at the HSBC Arena.

Daniel Bryan, thanks for coming.  You, Sheamus, and Michael McGuillicutty please enjoy your kayfabe stay at Mercy Hospital here in Buffalo.

Of course John Cena was going to win that cage match.  You really didn’t think so?  Still, The Miz got the last word in again as he left Cena lying on the floor following another Skull Crushing Finale.  By the way, The Miz sent a twitpic, or whatever you call them these days, during the match.  Here it is:

Cena also tweeted from Miz’s phone during the match.  He sent the same picture with the tweet, Hey cenation, come look how good I look!

After RAW went off the air, we still got our advertised dark main event – John Cena and Randy Orton vs. The Miz and CM Punk.  The heels took turns wailing away on Cena before Orton got the hot tag and cleaned house.  He hit RKOs on both opponents but Cole refused to count, instead running away.  Another referee came out and Orton and Cena picked up the win, pinning CM Punk.

Following the match – and this is the important part right here – John Cena had this to say:

“I got something to say to you.  I got something to say to all ‘yall.  First things first.  Randy Orton, thank you.  Thank you.  After filming RAW television, flying 15 hours to South America to perform four times for sold out shows below the Equator, then flying 15 hours back here to be in Buffalo, New York.  To physically be here to stand here in this ring, thank you.  Thank you, Randy Orton, for showing up.  Now then.  People as far as I can see, totally sold out here in Buffalo.  I’d just like to make a point that it’s not 14,000, it’s 16,700 people here tonight, and a certain individual would know that – if he showed up.  Ladies and gentlemen, I want to end this night with a most important message to all of you:  Thank you.  Thank you all for the same sacrifices Randy Orton made, thank you for making this program what it is, thank you for being excited to see WrestleMania, but most of all, thank you for showing up.”

While it’s pretty much a given at this point that it’s The Undertaker, I’m hoping the WWE will somehow still surprise us.  As much as I love Undertaker, let’s face it. The guy has been in WWE for 23 years now and it feels like he’s had 46 returns.  You want to bring the phenom back, just have him show up.  It works for him.

WWE had great buzz going with these promos.  Too bad they’re not for somebody just coming into the WWE.

Surprise me.  That’s all I ask.

Yes folks, it is I, the patron saint of Bored Wrestling Fans around the world, ThinkSoJoE, back with another ThinkSoJoE’s thoughts.  If you’re wondering about the title of this week’s article, “Ride it ’til the wheels fall off,” which you’ll recognize as a line from R-Truth’s “What’s Up,” I actually literally did just that to my car this week.  Actually, I wasn’t in the car when it happened, and luckily the people who were borrowing my car at the time weren’t hurt.  A lesson for those of you who, like myself, don’t know a damned thing about cars – if you must use a donut spare, it goes on the rear wheels of a front wheel drive vehicle.  Nobody told me that, and three struts broke off of my car and the wheel fell off.

Anywho, NXT Season 4 started up this week.  Nobody in the United States gives a crap because we don’t get it on television anymore, and I don’t know about any of you, but the web feed on WWE.com is extremely pixelated on my computer.  Rumor going into last week’s announcement of this season’s rookie/pro combinations was that Michael Cole was initially slated to be a pro, but was nixed at the last minute.  So here’s my take.  Rather than have Cole start the season off as an NXT pro, he gets RKO’d on RAW the night before the season premiere.  Cole will undoubtedly seek some kind of protection from future attacks, so have him interrupt an NXT broadcast (webcast?) and proclaim himself as a pro, have his rookie destroy one of the other rookies, and take their spot.  Cole mentors the guy, and in exchange, the rookie watches over Cole on RAW.  Sound good?

Ahem.  CO-BRA, CO-BRA, CO-BRA!  New WWE Tag Team Champions this week in Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov, with the major assist to John Cena, who distracted Justin Gabriel just long enough to allow Santino’s Cobra to strike.

Ah, John Cena.  Looks like he’ll be fired for all of four weeks – you know that The Nexus isn’t going anywhere and that without Barrett, there’s nobody fit to lead the group, in my humble opinion.  Look, factions don’t work well without their original leader, save for an HBK-less DX in the late 90s.  Nexus without Barrett would be like The 4 Horsemen without Ric Flair, the nWo without either Hogan or Nash at the helm, or the Straight Edge Society without CM Punk.  Besides, the t-shirts they just released last week feature Barrett’s picture right on them.  He ain’t going anywhere.

I do love the Top Rope Nexus t-shirts that they were all wearing this week on RAW.  Too bad they cost $40.  BTW, if you’re looking for something to get me for Christmas, get me something for the benefit of those with flash photography.

Hmm.  Edge got to pick the stipulation for his match with Kane at TLC and picked – wait for it… wait for it… – a TLC match!  You’re kidding!

Jeff Hardy allegedly showed up in no condition to perform this past Sunday at TNA Final Resolution.  Yet, he still managed to go out and wrestle.  I didn’t see the match, but I’ve heard that Matt Morgan carried him through it.  Good thing for TNA and Jeff Hardy that Matt Morgan does have a pretty good wrestling mind.  Hardy was back in court earlier today, but I’ve heard no more info as of this time.

Hey, here’s some interesting legal news.  The Tennessee Titans are planning to challenge WWE’s trademark of the word “Titantron.”  Here’s the problem with that.  WWE was using the word “Titantron,” and likely had the trademark, at least two years before the NFL franchise changed their name to the Titans.  The team adopted the name in 1999, nearly 11 years ago, and are just now challenging this trademark.  Good luck with that one.

Hey, here’s a random thought – if Jeff Hardy is supposed to be in court, isn’t that something that would prevent him from leaving the country and going somewhere like, say, Abu Dhabi?  Ah well, I digress.

My car got stuck Thursday morning, and I called AAA to come tow me out (and change the tire I popped).  Twelve hours later, they called to tell me they were helpless to help since they couldn’t get down my street without worrying about getting stuck themselves.  The city towed me the next day, and it took me three hours to figure out where they towed it to.  I still can’t find a spot on my street…

Alas, this is a wrestling website, and I’m sure something must’ve happened in the world of Sports Entertainment this week.  Ah yes, that’s right.  MVP asked for, and was granted, a release from his WWE contract.  Word is that MVP is trying to head out to Japan for work for the time being.

News is also coming out this week that Superstar Billy Graham has officially booked his last public appearance.  Graham’s failing health has led to his announcement that the WrestleReunion event in Los Angeles, January 29-31, will be his last public appearance of any kind.  Graham indicates that the end is near for his “run on this Earth,” and while he’s still with us, we’d like to take the opportunity to thank him for paving the way for the professional wrestlers of today.

Matt Hardy babbled on the internet about somethingorother.  I couldn’t be bothered to pay any attention.  I’m sick of Matt Hardy going online and complaining about anything to anybody who will listen.  He’s an attention starved, out of shape, past his prime crybaby with too much time on his hands.  Shut up, Matt.

Kaitlyn won WWE NXT Season 3.  Nobody cared.  The season 4 pros and rookies were announced.  Again, nobody cared.  Once the show isn’t on TV anymore, nobody cares.  Bring on Tough Enough already.

WWE seems to have decided not to go with the whole “Juan Cena” angle.  Which is probably a good thing.  If you ask me, the whole thing was a work.  WWE decided to screw with the IWC, even going as far as to have the character listed on house show cards and actually debut at one last Sunday night.  Hell, until he attacked Slater and Gabriel after their tag match, we didn’t actually SEE John Cena – just his armbands.  Kudos, WWE.  You got one over on us.

Finally, we’re hearing that Shawn Michaels will be involved in some way with the WWE Tribute to the Troops this year, which takes place at Fort Hood, TX.  Before you get all up in arms about him doing the same thing that Ric Flair did after the amazing retirement celebration WWE gave him, keep in mind that this is more of a promotional appearance than a return to the WWE.  HBK has been a big name in the WWE for the past 20+ years, so why wouldn’t they promote him for an NBC broadcast?

Now, this isn’t an article about how to get over with the fans as a professional wrestler.  I am not a professional wrestler, I don’t work for any professional wrestling organizations, and I wouldn’t have the first clue what to do if I were a pro wrestler.  No, the title of this article is more a play on words, because there are some things that people just can’t seem to get over, and I’m here to help.

How to get over… The WWE Tag Team Title redesign.

I’ll admit, the first time I laid eyes on the new WWE Tag Team Championship belts when Bret Hart handed them to the Hart Dynasty, I said “those look like they glued pennies to a piece of leather!”  Each and every week, I’d see those belts and I would absolutely hate them.  A lot of people feel the same way I did about them, but I’m here to tell you to get over it!  Over the last couple of weeks, these belts have grown on me.  Likely because the bronze shade matches Heath Slater’s hair color.  Admittedly, the belts look great on Slater and Justin Gabriel, but that’s not the only reason I’ve gotten over my distaste for them.  It was inevitable that WWE would eventually roll out a new set of belts to replace the RAW and SmackDown tag team titles after they were unified, and it always takes a while for people to accept new Championship belts no matter the case.  The “Attitude Era” belt that replaced the old “Winged Eagle” WWE Championship?  Hated it at first, but it’s now one of my favorite belts of all time.  The “Phoenix” belt that replaced the “Steel Cage” ECW Championship?  Hated it – especially because it was “Platinum” – but grew to love it by time it was retired.  The point is, WWE likes to experiment with different metals and designs for their titles when it’s time to come up with new belts.  Sometimes, it’s love at first sight (as in the United States Championship belt), and other times they’re an acquired taste (the current Intercontinental Championship, for example), but there’s nothing you can do about it either way, so GET OVER IT!

How to get over… Immortal.

TNA’s problem isn’t the Immortal storyline.  It’s not Eric Bischoff.  It’s not Hulk Hogan.  It’s Spike TV.  There, I said it.  Look, before they jumped on this Spike TV deal, TNA Wrestling had an identity of their own.  They were the new wrestling company, the one that was wrestling, according to their tagline.  After all, they were Total Nonstop Action.  Then they went to WWE’s old network.  The same network, albeit with a different name, that wanted ECW to be just like WWE and WCW back in the day.  And we’re all going to turn a blind eye to this and blame whoever’s in charge at TNA without thinking twice about the fact that every little thing TNA does is to try and pop a rating, much like WCW in the late 90s.  If you’re Dixie Carter, and the network is breathing down your neck looking for a product that they used to have when they broadcast RAW and can bring in that kind of ratings, you’re going to get Bischoff and Hogan too, because they brought in higher ratings than WWE at one point.  Don’t let it bother you.  When the ratings continue to stay put, this angle will die a sudden death like every other WCW angle that TNA has tried since they got to Spike.  GET OVER IT!

How to get over… Stand up for WWE.

I did an article a couple of weeks back called “Standing up for WWE.”  One of the comments I got on the article was from our dear friend RYTMAN, who asked “Will you please explain why a MULTI-BILLION DOLLAR PRODUCTION COMPANY NEEDS SOMEONE TO ‘STAND UP’ FOR THEM?”  Look, everybody who is reading this right now, I presume, is a wrestling fan.  We all know how wrestling – not just WWE, but wrestling in general – is portrayed in the media and viewed by non-fans.  Don’t look at this as WWE wanting us to tell them we love them and stroke their ego.  Look at this as a chance to say “this is why I love professional wrestling.”  This is a chance to help WWE show that they’re not the evil, steroid abusing, chair swinging, sex drugs and rock and roll show that the media often portrays them as.  This is good, clean, family entertainment that has taken strides toward making the work environment safer for the independent contractors who bust their asses every night as part of this sports-entertainment spectacle.  Speaking of which…

How to get over… WWE TV-PG.

Grow up.  The company did.  A lot of people were thinking that this change had to do with Linda McMahon’s Senate bid, and that we’d instantly go back to another Attitude Era when it was over.  Well guess what people, Linda failed, and the company still has a TV-PG rating.  It never had anything to do with Linda McMahon.  It had more to do with Mattel, actually, but don’t hold that against them either.  The WWE, prior to the Attitude Era, had been a family company for years since Vincent Kennedy McMahon started to expand it out of New York.  With Superstars like Rey Mysterio and John Cena on the roster, more kids are tuning in these days, particularly since the generation that grew up on the company in the 80s and 90s are starting to have their own children.  The move to a more family friendly show makes perfect sense.  If you want blood, guts, strong language, and women wrestlers tearing each other’s clothes off, switch to TNA.  Since RAW and SmackDown kill iMPACT! in the ratings every week, I’d venture to say that the majority would rather watch the toned down but still entertaining WWE product.  GET OVER IT!

That’s not to say I haven’t been watching wrestling.  In fact, I happened to see Hell In A Cell this past Sunday and RAW the next night.  The problem with not having cable is, there’s only a limited amount of television you can watch via an antenna, at least in this area with the antenna I have, so your DVD collection gets old quick.  So on Monday, between watching HIAC and RAW, I did something completely out of character – I watched a WWE Film.

Yes folks, I hit up my local RedBox (which, at Walmart, is actually blue) and picked up Legendary, which, of course, stars John Cena.  And much to my surprise, it was actually good.  I’m not saying we should give John Cena an Oscar nod for this, but he definitely played the role better than I ever expected him to.  I certainly recommend checking this one out if you’ve got a couple hours to kill.

Now, after being surprised by Cena’s acting in Legendary, something happened.  On Monday night, John Cena played his role as the reluctant ally to Nexus perfectly.  I’m a cynic when it comes to professional wrestling sometimes, and because I know the business so well, sometimes it’s hard to suspend my disbelief and watch as a fan, but for the last few days, that’s exactly what I’ve tried to do.  And as a wrestling fan, I was intrigued by the way Cena played his part following his loss to Wade Barrett at HIAC and the following night on RAW.  I’m very interested to see how far the storyline with Cena in Nexus will go, and what the next step for the Barrett/Cena dynamic is.  The smark in me wants to kick the fan in me’s ass for praising Cena right now, but oh well.

I’m glad to see that Goldust is finally getting a push and returning to his old “bizarre” persona, as opposed to his “La Resistance made me get electrocuted so I have tourette’s” persona.  As AlyKat said in her excellent RAW review, only Goldust would send love letters to a belt.

Holy shit.  Where did this John Morrison come from?  The guy’s been into Parkour training for ages, and they’re just now making it a huge part of his in-ring style?  Climbing that light board at HIAC and diving out onto everybody else from that high up?  Where’s Joey Styles to scream “OH MY GOD!” when we need him, huh?

MacGruber came out on DVD and BluRay today.  I hit the blue RedBox again and picked up the BluRay, for the sheer fact that a few WWE Superstars were in the movie.  Chris Jericho, Mark Henry, MVP, Kane, and The Great Khali make up MacGruber’s team (he rejects The Big Show after seeing him kiss another man), at least until he inadvertently blows them up.  The movie has it’s moments, but I wouldn’t waste my time on it.  I’m sure the 10 minutes that the WWE guys are in the film will pop up on YouTube any time now.

I actually planned on ordering HardCORE Justice last Sunday, but I woke up around 8:07 and figured it was pointless by then to spend the 30 bucks on the show.  I promised myself I wouldn’t read any spoilers before I actually got to watch it, and damn, that would’ve been $30 well spent.  Nearly every match had a purpose, settling feuds from back in the original ECW, and the last minute Main Event change to RVD/Sabu was a great move IMO.  The only other person on the show that could’ve filled the void left by Jerry Lynn’s absence would have been Rhino, in a storyline sense anyway, but there was so much history between RVD and Sabu that it really was the best choice.

The only BWF stuff I did for RAW was a quick tweet asking folks to use our #BWF hashtag to help AlyKat notice them for her review.  I watched the show as a fan, but I knew damn well that it was going to suck in comparison to the PPV I watched the night before.  I was right.  It’s not that RAW sucked in comparison to other recent RAWs, it’s that it happened to be on during a week where it would have had to outshine some of the best RAWs of all time to even compete with what TNA was putting on.  Look, I’m not one of those guys that floods the comment boards on other sites with anti-WWE stuff or pro-TNA stuff.  Typically, I’m a WWE supporter no matter what, but TNA just had the better wrestling this week.

I haven’t watched any of NXT Season 2 aside from the one where The Nexus were on.  I just don’t care.  JT can vote for Kaval all he wants, I’m just bored with the whole NXT deal.

And then there was Thursday.  TNA promised us a PPV style show on free TV, and that’s what they delivered.  Every match was amazing, and Shannon Moore proved that he can hang with a main eventer in his match with Jeff Hardy, but from a wrestling standpoint you have to give it up for Beer Money and The Motor City Machine Guns, and from a hardcore standpoint, RVD and Abyss.  Initially I missed the Fortune beatdown on EV2.0, but after being told about it Friday night and reading Drow’s statement that it made the initial Nexus attack look like “a junior high play,” I had to go back and watch it.  It was absolutely brutal – James Storm was just maiming people left and right with pieces of broken glass!  I can’t wait for the aftermath of this, when the EV2.0 guys try for revenge.  Extreme Violence?  It’s just beginning!

I still haven’t watched SmackDown.  I’m not even interested in watching.  Initially I considered ordering SummerSlam tonight, but that’s probably out of the question too.  There’s nothing that’s captured my attention booked for tonight.  The only thing that would possibly make this worth the money is if The Miz cashes in and wins the WWE Championship tonight, and I highly doubt that’s going to happen.

If you think about it, that makes perfect sense.  It subtly answers questions I’ve had about the whole NXT invasion angle and ties up a few loose ends nicely.

“But, Bryan Danielson is working the indies again” you say.  Remember when Matt Hardy was fired from WWE over the whole Edge and Lita thing?  Matt came back to WWE and they let him promote the ROH show he was still booked for.  During NXT, they promoted the hell out of the fact that Danielson had been an indy wrestling star before coming to WWE.  He gets “fired,” he’s back on the indy scene, and most people take that to mean that he’s really been fired by WWE.

A few people may have put as much thought into the Bryan Danielson theory as I have and realized that it makes perfect sense.  The biggest clue became obvious to me earlier tonight:  Michael Cole.  A lot of you know that I spend most Monday and Tuesday nights running our twitter account, @BrdWrstlngFn.  Earlier I got to thinking how odd it was that there was a storyline brewing with Michael Cole hating the internet, but now he’s in charge of reading the e-mails from the RAW General Manager.  That’s when it hit me.

Much was made of the fact that Danielson was an indy star who reached fame on the internet.  Michael Cole used to blast him every week on NXT for it.  Suddenly, Danielson is gone from the company with conflicting reports about why he was fired, Bret Hart conveniently has issues with his insurance company after an angle the following week, then suddenly, there’s an anonymous General Manager who will only communicate with Michael Cole, who supposedly hates the internet, via e-mail.  Running with that idea, don’t you think that if the Nexus wanted to get to Michael Cole, they would have by now?

Two weeks after Danielson gets “fired,” Mr. McMahon is on RAW, proclaiming that there is a new General Manager, who promptly books Mr. McMahon as an outside official for the main event between John Cena and Sheamus.  The NXT guys run off the participants, and Mr. McMahon announces that he was the one behind the NXT attacks.  The Nexus turn their attention to the Chairman, leading one to believe that there was somebody else behind the attack on Mr. McMahon.  Perhaps as a sign of good faith, Mr. McMahon gave the GM job to Danielson, who used that position to put McMahon in a situation where his associates could attack him, payback for “firing” him from the WWE.

This is just a hypothesis, an educated guess as to who it could be.  I could be completely wrong, and it’s highly likely that I am, but thinking about it this way gives it a certain air of plausibility, does it not?

I probably wouldn’t have ordered Fatal Four Way even if I was awake, but I’ve read the results over a few times and I do know one thing – unless Sheamus makes a huge impact on RAW tonight, neither he or Rey Mysterio will be getting much higher than 9th or 10th when I submit my rankings for this week’s Power Poll.  I realize the storylines going on in the main event picture on both shows, but how can you have two World Title matches end in a title change via outside interference in one night?  That’s my opinion, anyway, and we’ll find out if other wrestling writers (including our own G) agree with me on that one or not.

CZW wrestler Michael “Trent Acid” Verdi was found dead in his Philadelphia home a few days ago.  It’s a very rare occasion that we talk about CZW here, and there’s probably a very good reason for that, but now is not the time for CZW bashing.  I’d seen Trent Acid perform several years ago as part of the Backseat Boys tag team along with Johnny Kashmere, and the kid was very talented.  It’s always sad to lose a member of our wrestling family, and this is no exception.

Reports are that Batista is set to debut for Strikeforce in the near future.  At age 41, we’ll have to wait and see how well his body can withstand the abuse of being an MMA fighter.

I think everybody reading this likely knows by now that Paul Burchill, Shane Helms, referee Scott Armstrong, Charlie Hass, and perhaps most surprising of all, 2009 Diva of the Year as voted on by fans of the WWE Universe, Maria Kanellis, have all been released from their WWE contracts.  Traci Brooks, Sean Morley, TNA Knockout Tag Team Champion Awesome Kong, and a Knockout that half of us probably didn’t even realize was working for the company, Roxxi, were all released from their TNA contracts.  More surprising still, I saw Slam Master J and Jimmy Wang Yang on SmackDown last night.  Apparently all you have to do to keep your job in WWE is hide behind somebody bigger than you in both popularity and physical size.

What many of you may not realize is that Backlash, the traditional followup to WrestleMania on the WWE schedule for over a decade, has also been let go by WWE, replaced by the Extreme Rules Pay Per View.  More shocking still is the fact that after 23 years, one of the big four is gone – Survivor Series will not be returning this year due to poor buy rates in 2009.  What replaces the former Thanksgiving Night Tradition is yet to be seen, but one can assume it will be another gimmick Pay Per View.

On the bright side, one of the gimmick PPVs that the WWE is considering happens to be WarGames – WCW’s double ring steel cage 10 man tag.  I always loved that event.  In fact, when I got my second Jakks real-scale WWE ring, I put the two right next to each other and said “man, I wish I had a double cage!”

TNA moves to Mondays at 9 on Spike TV this coming Monday night, March 8th.  According to my program guide, they’ll be airing a replay in the traditional iMPACT timeslot, so for those of you who, unlike me, don’t have Picture-In-Picture or a DVR, you can still catch the show on Thursdays.  We here at Bored Wrestling Fan will do our best to have coverage of all three Monday night wrestling programs – that’s right, I said three.  Starting this Monday, BoredWrestlingFan.com will be bringing you coverage of ROH on HDNet along with our WWE and TNA coverage.

I’d like to take a moment to talk about Ezekiel Jackson.  Jackson showed up on SmackDown last night and squashed Jimmy Wang Yang, but he was missing something.  If I won the ECW Championship on the last night of the brand’s existence, I’d be carrying that title around and putting myself over as the last ECW Champion before destroying whatever competition is in front of me.  Alas, Jackson was beltless – and colorless, as he was wearing black instead of the red he’d been known for in ECW.  I guess the Ahmed Johnson comparison finally got to him.

The Royal Rumble is this Sunday, and from my various conversations via our twitter (@BrdWrstlngFn), I’ve learned that the Rumble is more popular than WrestleMania with some fans.  I love the Rumble, but I’m not one of those people.  The reason everybody loves the Rumble is that for over two decades, it’s remained one of the most entertaining matches to watch in professional wrestling, and after adding in the WrestleMania title shot for the winner in the mid 90’s, it’s become hands down the most important event on the WWE’s calendar other than the Granddaddy of ‘Em All.  This year’s Rumble has so many different stories going into it that, even if you’ve read potential spoilers, you still have no idea who is going to win.  My money is that it’s NOT going to be a former world champion from any of the three brands.  For my pick, you’ll have to wait until JT presents the BWF Royal Rumble Roundtable tomorrow.

Yours truly is extremely excited for the Rumble, and I’m looking forward to sharing the excitement with good friends at the Rumble party I’m attending.

The Rumble is the official kickoff to the WWE’s Road to WrestleMania, which will be in Glendale, AZ this year.  I’d love to attend this year’s event, and with my impending tax returns awaiting deposit into my bank account, I may decide to hit up StubHub and pick up some tickets – though I highly doubt it, since Arizona is pretty far from Buffalo.  If the rumors are to be believed, it will be much easier to make it to WrestleMania 27 next year, as it’s supposedly going to be in Atlanta, GA.

TNA’s gamble to take on RAW earlier this month with a live show of their own seems to have paid off.  The company’s ratings are growing by the week, even if some of us are sitting here wondering why we’re watching.  Oddly enough, it seems like every Thursday, I read a tweet or a forum post stating “if this show is as bad as last week’s, I’m never watching again.”

Here’s the thing about TNA.  TNA has always had it’s ups and downs, and no matter how bad the company had been, it always seemed to right itself.  Some things are definitely backward in TNA right now, but with a little patience, we could see the company become the viable alternative to WWE that they’d had the potential to become.

One thing did bug me about this week’s iMPACT! though.  Brother Ray said that the entire world wants to see Team 3D vs. The Nasty Boys.  That begs the question, “what world is Bubba from?”

In his speech, Small referred to the TNA fans as “cast members” and advised them against cursing, “flipping birds” and throwing up gang signs.  Small announced that anybody caught on camera making such gestures or holding up signs deemed offensive to the company will be moved elsewhere.

So, does Small’s speech make TNA just as bad as, or perhaps worse than, the NFL?

Referring to the fans as “cast members” – which earned a few screams of “pay us, then” and “where’s our checks?” – is certainly a little odd.  At least the NFL hasn’t sunk to that level.  While it stands to reason that the TNA fans are more a part of the show than NFL fans, they’re still there to have a good time and enjoy the show.  The TNA fanbase have been an integral part of the show for the last 8 years, and to take away their ability to express themselves could hurt the product as a whole.

Apparently, the catalyst for this newfound censorship of the TNA audience was their live “iMPACT” broadcast on January 4, 2010 where fans chanted “bullshit” at the outcome of a match.  The fans were audibly upset when TNA wrestler Homicide caused a hotly contested “Steel Asylum” match to end in a no contest when he used a weapon to try to take out his opponents.  The audio was censored altogether on the program and only ended when popular wrestler Jeff Hardy emerged from the audience.

Will TNA’s censorship of it’s “cast members” in the audience result in a fan backlash against the product?  I’m sure we’ll find out in time.

Eric Bischoff knows television.  Eric Bischoff will tell you that’s his business.  He’ll tell you that he was the one who put Nitro on three minutes earlier than RAW and he was the one who knew enough to beat RAW back from commercial breaks to get the viewers watching and hooked.  It didn’t quite work out for TNA last night, and here’s why.  TNA aired the first hour unopposed by WWE, and in the first 30 minutes had Jeff Hardy, Shannon Moore, and Ric Flair pop up on their program – but they also had a match that is unique to TNA and it’s X-Division end in a no-contest and fan chants of “This-Is-Bull-Shit.”  Tara and ODB managed to change the word “bullshit” to “awesome” before Scott Hall and Sean Waltman showed up and TNA aired nearly 10 minutes in commercials.  Credit to TNA where it’s due – they did what any of us would’ve done and had Hulk Hogan debut at 9:57 EST.

Many of us didn’t care and switched to RAW anyway, knowing full well that Bret Hart would kick off the show.  Those who continued to watch TNA got to hear Hall, Waltman, Hogan, Kevin Nash, and Bischoff repeat themselves for 10 minutes.  The moment TNA went to commercial – which would likely be the moment that fans changed the channel to see what was going on over on RAW, Bret Hart shook Shawn Michaels’ hand, and the duo hugged.  This is the point for me when WWE won the battle – hands down.

TNA’s show continued to put on good wrestling matches in between the myriad of talk segments, including an awesome match for the TNA Knockouts Tag Team Championships in which Hamada and Awesome Kong defeated Taylor Wilde and Sarita for the titles, and a short but good match between Pope D’Angelo Dinero and Desmond Wolfe.  RAW had an excellent tag title match pitting DX against JeriShow, and the WWE Champion Sheamus in action against “Little Evan Bourne.”

WWE’s main match of the night pit Randy Orton against recent rival Kofi Kingston, but anybody who didn’t tune in to iMPACT for the TNA Championship match featuring the Champion, The Phenomenal AJ Styles, defending his title against Kurt Angle missed an early Match of the Year candidate.  Throughout this match, fan chants ranged from the usual “Let’s Go AJ/Let’s Go Angle” to “This Is Epic” and the hilarious considering Earl Hebner was the referee “Who needs Bret?”  Styles won this match, which was so amazing that Ric Flair watched from the top of the aisle and Hulk Hogan came out to commend the duo after the match.  iMPACT ended with an old school nWo beat down as Hall, Nash, and Waltman beat down Mick Foley, much to the apparent surprise of Hulk Hogan.

As soon as the show went off the air, the Chairman made his way to the ring.  With the knowledge that Bret Hart was on the show, fans probably knew, no matter which show they watched, that a confrontation was eminent.  Indeed, Hart confronted McMahon, the duo seemingly made up, and McMahon kicked Hart square in the grapefruits to end the show.

I haven’t seen the ratings.  Given that they were the number 3 Trending Topic on Twitter for most of the night, TNA likely popped a higher rating than normal.  Going head to head with WWE on a historic night for the company, however, probably didn’t allow them to maintain it.  Time will tell if last night was good or bad for TNA, but for the first time in nearly nine years, it was just awesome to be a wrestling fan on Monday nights.

It was pointed out that WWE’s obituary, or whatever you want to call it, on WWE.com makes sure to note that Umaga was released from his WWE contract on June 11, 2009.  The person who mentioned it was pondering why WWE would point that out.  The reason is simple – WWE doesn’t want to have more heat on them about drug use if Fatu’s death turns out to be drug related.  WWE let Fatu go because he violated the wellness policy a second time and refused rehab.  The company can’t afford bad publicity right now, not with Linda McMahon running for the US Senate.

ECW is set to be re-branded and re-formatted in the very near future.  The rumor going around is that the veteran ECW wrestlers will be moved to SmackDown and RAW, while whatever ECW becomes will be a showcase for new talent.

Speaking of which, I went back over the last few days and watched the first three episodes of ECW on SciFi.  Not quite the original ECW, but not nearly what it’s become.  Anybody else find it funny that Mike Knox made his during a segment set to “Buttons” by the Pussycat Dolls?

I hope TNA can sign RVD.  TNA’s guys can work circles around half of the WWE roster, and RVD can work circles around all of them.  With the Hogan deal, maybe we’ll see The Whole F’N Show become Mr. Thursday Night again.

Jeff Hardy’s court date has been postponed once again, this time until January.  This means we’re certainly not going to see the Charismatic Enigma any time before the end of the year in any wrestling organization.

BWF reader Gee chimed in to tell us about how he got to attend Monday Night RAW for free and get on TV while doing it as a “seat-filler” for the evening.

For the record, the best seats to get on TV at a live WWE event are the first level (100 level in every arena I’ve been to) of seats directly across from the camera.  That should get you on TV for sure.

I have to wonder if the person who was searching for nude pictures of Buff Bagwell is the same one who was searching for nude pictures of Nicole Bass.

Much like the Nicole Bass search, this one is a bit misleading as well – I mentioned that Matt Striker may have been in trouble for some alleged nude photos, and that Buff Bagwell said he’d work for WWE for free if they called him.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s talk wrestling.

When you talk wrestling with anybody who isn’t a fan of the business, the one name that will almost always inevitably come up is Hulk Hogan.  Now, Hogan is in some way, shape, or form a part of TNA Wrestling.  Whether he’s going to be a wrestler, a booker, or what remains to be seen, but he’s a member of the TNA Wrestling family.  Just a few weeks ago, I posted a video here on the site confirming the signing, and in the comments I’d mentioned that it was a brilliant move for TNA given the timing.  You see, Hulk Hogan just had a WWE DVD put out about him on Tuesday.  That means they’ve been airing ads featuring Hulk Hogan on every show.  Roddy Piper guest hosted RAW on Monday, and he and the Iron Sheik both mentioned Hogan’s name – not in a nice way, mind you, but they mentioned him.

If I were an old-school fan tuning in to RAW because Piper is hosting, and I hear Hogan’s name, I start to think, “whatever happened to this guy?”  Then I head to the computer and pull up Hulk Hogan on Wikipedia, or if I’m not computer savvy, I ask the nearest 10 year old wrestling fan, “whatever happened to Hulk Hogan?”

“Terry Gene Bollea (born August 11, 1953), better known by his ring name Hulk Hogan, is a professional wrestler currently signed to Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.”

“Oh my god, Hogan’s still in wrestling?  I’ve never heard of Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.  When does it come on?”

So it’s Thursday Night, 9PM Eastern, and the TV is tuned to Spike TV.  I see Abyss and I see Mick Foley.  Foley is complaining about Hogan.  Alright, yeah, Hogan!  Instead of Hogan, we get Richards, Daffney, and Raven.  A much better trade-off in this reporter’s opinion, but for the man tuning in to see Hulk Hogan, it’s probably a bit of a let down.  It’s ok, though.  They just said there’s supposed to be an interview with Sting later on today.  Hey, I remember Sting!  So I sit down to watch the rest of the show.  I see some pretty good young wrestlers – way more entertaining in ring action than I used to see back in Hogan’s heyday, I’ll tell you that much – but other than a few mentions of his name, there’s no Hulk Hogan.  And Sting?  Sting didn’t bother showing up at his own house for an interview.  Hmph.

The saving grace, of course, is that for those tuning in hoping to see Hogan, TNA got a chance to showcase some of their talent for those curious to see what Hulk Hogan is up to.  Personally, I think they dropped the ball by not having Jay Lethal do his Randy Savage shtick this week.

WWE isn’t really pushing the Hogan DVD as hard as I’d expected them to – not that I can blame them – but TNA has a narrow window here in which the competition is talking about their newest signing, and since next week’s iMPACT is in the can, and Hogan’s in Australia partying with Legend Killer, they’re going to fail to take advantage of it.

Enough about Hulk Hogan.  Let’s talk about Brock Lesnar.  The UFC Heavyweight Champion is in bad health.  Some sources say he may never fight again, others say he may fight within the next six months, while there are some others who say his wife, former WWE Diva Rena Mero, will leave him if he can’t bring in the money.  Isn’t that right, Tammy Sytch?

Oprah Winfrey has been all over the news for the last 24 hours or so, because she announced that she’s ending her talk show on September 9, 2011.  Yes, that’s nearly two years from now.  Nevermind that she told this to Larry King back in 2007, nearly two years ago.  The way they’re talking about this woman, you’d think she died.  Yes, she’s done a lot of pioneering things as a black woman in television, but save making a big deal out of it for when the show ends in 2011.  Even then, don’t make this big of a deal out of it.

Johnny Depp was named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive.  Explain to me how people can call somebody the Sexiest Man Alive.  Does People Magazine know everybody in the world?  I’m a man, I’m alive, and I’ve never met anybody from People Magazine, which says to me that they don’t know for a fact that Johnny Depp is the Sexiest Man Alive.  I’m not saying that I am, I’m just saying that myself, JT, tharvey1, Legend Killer, and Jason were probably all left out of consideration, since People Magazine doesn’t know who we are.

I hear that the TNA Turning Point PPV was actually pretty good.  I still haven’t seen it myself, but I’m thinking about it.  Survivor Series shouldn’t be too bad this Sunday either, but… hey wait a minute, I just realized that nobody scheduled a roundtable for Survivor Series!  Quick, get me your predictions by noon tomorrow via PM on the BWF Forums so I can post them!  Unless somebody else already claimed the show, in which case, let me know…

Speaking of JT, I had the opportunity to hang out with him and have a few beers this past Tuesday.  Surprisingly, I withstood drinking with BWF’s resident random redhead until 5AM and escaped without a hangover.

After spending a day watching Powerpuff Girls with my daughter,  I’m wondering how she’d take to watching wrestling.  We pretended that she was a Powerpuff Girl and I was the evil Mojo Jojo, and she’s tough, I’ll tell you that much.  Of course, I only had pretend lasers to use, and she got to actually attack me.  Maybe if she gets into wrestling she could grow up to be a WWE Diva or a TNA Knockout.  Just a thought.

I know this game is a few months old, but I happened to rent Batman: Arkham Asylum for PS3 over the weekend.  Definitely a fun game.  It’s the first game I’ve rented in years, and I’m glad I did.  I might actually buy a copy this week if I can.  I held off on buying the Xbox 360 version because you couldn’t play as The Joker – something I’ve yet to do in the PS3 version at press time.

Speaking of The Joker, Rey Mysterio’s Joker attire from WrestleMania 25 gets praise from thinksobrain bassist Jorge, who is a huge fan of The Dark Knight – which is actually the first BluRay video I’ve ever rented.  I’ll probably watch that later on today.

It’s expected that Hulk Hogan won’t debut in TNA until January.  My boss came to me a couple of weeks ago and started talking to me about something that was happening in January – I told him not to bother telling me about it until then.

I’ve been having fun on Monday Nights with the BWF Twitterverse.  If you’re around on Monday Nights, I encourage you to use #BWF in your tweets if you want to be included in the RAW review.  I try to post at least one tweet from everybody who does so.  I also try to keep the number of tweets included per person to just one, but sometimes things are just way too brilliant to leave out.

William Regal and Christian put on a hell of a match this past Tuesday on SyFy.  I’m a bit surprised that Regal didn’t walk out with the ECW Championship though.

Zack Ryder’s fantasy sequences are surprisingly entertaining.  I guess that just goes along with the “stupiddictive” gimmick that Ryder has.

Listen, I’m no fashion expert or anything, but if I was carrying as much weight as Jim Neidhart is at the moment, I probably would’ve gone with a black top instead of pink this past Thursday on iMPACT.

Do you think WWE used Natalya in a match this week just because her dad wrestled the night before on iMPACT?  Both Neidharts won their matches, definitely a first time within one week that’s happened on television.

I may have said otherwise at times, but The Undertaker can still go – given the right opponent.  He’s had lackluster matches as of late, but his match with Jericho the other night was amazing.  It wasn’t HBK/Undertaker WM25 amazing, but it was pretty damned good.

Speaking of HBK/Undertaker WM25, last week, JT said last week that it was the best match of the year so far.  Perhaps my calendar is wrong, April 14, 2009 happened to be this year, and that happened to be the night of a match that could give HBK/Undertaker a run for it’s money.  On that night, Evan Bourne took on John Morrison in a match that Matt Striker called a Match of the Year candidate.  Watch it:  Part 1, Part 2, Part 3.

It’s very rare for me to miss any of the big four WWE Pay Per Views.  I’ve been watching SummerSlam since 1988, and I wasn’t about to let the fact that I was only on about 3 hours sleep and am going to be trying to get a new job in the morning get in my way of watching the 21st edition of the Biggest Party of the Summer.  Besides, CM Punk was winning his title back.

We’ll start at the beginning, I guess.  Rey Mysterio beat Dolph Ziggler, which is fine with me.  My biggest problem with the match is that Mysterio came out first.  I remember watching a WCW show – I want to say it was a Clash of the Champions event on TBS – and whoever the champion was at the time came out first for the main event.  The announcers explained that the champion wanted to come out first to avoid being assaulted backstage – or something like that.  Anyways, the point is, in championship matches, it’s the challenger that’s supposed to come out first.  If you have to have the champion come out first, give us a reason for it.  Don’t just wake up one day and decide, “ah, you know what, I’m going to chuck tradition out the window and have the champion come out first for almost every title match.”

Later in the night, The Big Show and Chris Jericho also came to the ring first for their title defense, as did Christian for his.

Speaking of Christian, I actually missed the match.  I was in the BWF forums typing a message before the bell rang, and by time I clicked over, Regal was standing tall over Christian, who retained his title in a SummerSlam-record 8 seconds before being beaten down by Regal and his cronies.

Was anybody else really hoping that Legacy would get the win over DX?  I was already tired of RAW, now I have DX to deal with every week.  Fun.

That Orton/Cena match was bizarre.  From the second Lillian screwed up her announcement of the first false finish, to the fan who jumped in and attacked the referee, it was just a strange match.  The question remains whether or not that fan was a plant or just some stupid mark.  The fact that it looked like Cena had the match all but won and wound up losing due to the involvement of that “fan” leads me to believe that it was definitely a plant.

And the Undertaker returned.  While I was expecting the lights to go out and a message to be sent to CM Punk, I was certainly not expecting The Undertaker to magically appear in the place of Jeff Hardy and chokeslam Punk.

Tonight should prove to be Lillian’s last night with the WWE, and Friday’s SmackDown may be Jeff Hardy’s last night, but of course, Matt Hardy has said that Jeff is staying with the company past SummerSlam.  Take that for what it’s worth, it was another Matt Hardy attempt to work the internet.

We just launched all new forums here at BoredWrestlingFan (and I will fix any remaining links to the old forums soon), and we kicked them off in grand fashion with a discussion of this past Thursday’s iMPACT!  Big things are brewing in TNA, with Jeff Jarrett being sent home by Dixie Carter and a couple of his buddies being sent to the unemployment line.  This could be the spark that sets off the powder keg that is professional wrestling.  A hot angle from a fresh writing staff can be the catalyst TNA needs to make themselves truly look like a credible threat to the WWE – which, in turn, will cause WWE to fight back.  That’s what started the Attitude Era, competition from WCW.

Speaking of WCW, Kevin Nash used to work there.  So did Rey Mysterio.  Now they work for TNA and WWE, respectively.  Mysterio mentioned Nash by name last night on SmackDown.  Now, if I were Mr. McMahon, even if I am friends with Nash, I’m not going to let Mysterio mention Nash by name when he works for TNA, no matter how minuscule of a threat I thought they were.  People who aren’t aware of the TNA product could hear Nash’s name, remember him from WCW (or even his last WWE run), think, “I wonder what ever happened to that guy,” look him up on the internet, and see that he’s working in TNA, as part of a group with other well known wrestling names like Booker T, Scott Steiner, and Kurt Angle, and decide to tune in next Thursday night.  Then again, maybe Mr. McMahon wants to help the competition, maybe he thinks what I think – that strong competition will inspire the WWE product to become much better.

This is the last time these names will be typed by me here on BWF – Jeremy Piven & Dr. Ken.  I wish I had one of those Men In Black style mind wipe devices and could erase this past Monday’s RAW from my memory.  If this week’s show sucks nearly as bad as the last one, I might have to stop watching RAW entirely.

One of these days I’ll start watching ECW again.  It’s not that it’s a bad show, I just don’t get around to watching it.  This past Tuesday I forgot to set my DVR when I went to see “Funny People” starring Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen.  A lot of dick and fart jokes, but it wasn’t bad.

WWE MSG Classics used to be a good show, but then they started showing the same 6 episodes over and over and over again.

I got nothing else, really.  Stay tuned, somebody might do a Random Randomness at some point (maybe), and tharvey1’s WWE Superstars review will be up sometime tomorrow-ish (he’s running a bit late this week, but we forgive him.)

Anyways, I digress.  There was a lot of shit going on this week, so  let’s get to it!

Since we last left you, the big news has been the injury to Edge’s Achilles Tendon, which will likely keep the Rated R Superstar on the shelf until January.  WWE.com has already covered the story despite the fact that Edge participated in previously taped matches for RAW and SmackDown this week.  How WWE plans to handle the fact that Edge and Chris Jericho are the current Unified WWE Tag Team Champions leading into Night of Champions is unknown at this time.

In more pleasant news, video game company Midway, known for their Mortal Kombat franchise and that horrid TNA video game that came out last year, has been purchased by Warner Brothers, who did not pick up the license to TNA video games in the deal.  Mortal Kombat, however, is safe.  With any luck, we’ll get a MK movie franchise reboot out of the deal.

Speaking of safe, our eardrums will not be for much longer.  Joanie “Chyna” Laurer has apparently signed a record deal with Virgin records.  Luckily, the plans are to release an instrumental album, so we won’t have to hear her nasally, whiny voice.

The Miz and Chris Jericho have been insulting each other via Twitter.  Kinda like we were doing with our pals over at World Wrestling Insanity a few months back.  Copycats.

Rumor has it that a top WWE star has been caught violating the company’s wellness policy and is going unpunished.  Allegedly, this wrestler told somebody else about it and it’s getting around the locker room.  No Superstars were named, but I think I can narrow it down to a list of three people…

I could easily turn this article into a knockoff of E!’s “The Soup,” just by having a weekly segment titled “Matt Hardy goes online.”  This week though, instead of completely bashing alleged critics, he explains his injury, his weight gain over the past couple of years, and how it all ties together – much like his abdomen had to be.

Taz claims he was asked to guest host an upcoming episode of RAW, which he turned down.

I’d talk about WWE’s new marketing director, Jim Connelly, but this is a wrestling website, not QVC.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Kim “is famous for having a big ass and a sex tape” Kardashian (see, this could be just like The Soup!) were apparently spotted eyeing each other in Los Angeles earlier this week.  What this has to do with wrestling, since The Rock hasn’t been seen in WWE rings in about 5 years, I have no idea.

Anybody looking to hire an unemployed former referee from a major wrestling organization?  Then get ahold of Rudy Charles, who was let go by TNA Wrestling earlier this week as a part of cost cutting measures.  Charles was with the company from the beginning, and says he has no hard feelings about being released.

Chris Jericho was apparently detained at an airport in the Phillipenes for some reason.

We’re happy to report that Gerald Brisco finally had his heart surgery and is expected to be 100% in a couple of months.

Tomorrow night’s guest host of RAW is Robot Chicken co-creator, actor, and the voice of Chris Griffin on Family Guy, Seth Green.  This could be interesting.  In a related story, Triple H will be a guest voice on the upcoming Season 4.5 premier of Robot Chicken, airing July 26th.

Finally, John Cena has married his high school sweetheart.  Poor guy.

The Bash was last Sunday, and the WWE managed to surprise us again – not in a main event (both of which had terrible endings, btw), but in a tag team match of all things. Yes, “Team Ego” captured the Unified Tag Team Championships in a match they weren’t originally scheduled to participate in. And the internet dubbed them, “Rated Y2J.”

Also on Sunday, it was reported that RAW ring announcer Lillian Garcia has handed in her notice to WWE and will be leaving. Lillian was very capable as an announcer, and always pumped the crowd up with her pre-show singing of “America The Beautiful.” WWE is looking for a female announcer who can sing to replace Garcia, but here’s hoping for a promotion for Justin Roberts to what WWE considers the A show.

Former WWE Superstar Brian Christopher Lawler, also known as Grand Master Sexay, was in court on Monday on charges of public intoxication. He allegedly threatened the police officer who arrested him as well, saying he’d rip the officer’s head off. Surprisingly, he was only sentenced to rehab.

On RAW it was randomly announced that 15 Superstars were involved in a trade between the three brands. For what it’s worth, the draft was just over 2 months ago. If we’re randomly going to move guys around, can we just get rid of the whole draft thing?

In the very definition of “slow news week,” it was reported that The Miz posted on his official Twitter page (http://twitter.com/mikethemiz) that he stayed up until 5:30AM watching YouTube.

Would it surprise anybody if I said that Matt Hardy complained on MySpace about something somebody said about him on the internet? I didn’t think so. Apparently some reporter on a wrestling news site complained that Matt spilled the beans on the trade (Matt went to SmackDown), when in fact Matt posted it after it hit WWE.com.

In proof that nobody watches TNA except for Drowgoddess, the IWC is speculating that Taz will debut for TNA at Victory Road. Nevermind the fact that Joe has been acting like Taz and using some of his moves while taking advice from a mysterious “advisor.” Oh, and the fact that he told AJ Styles he can ask the “advisor” who he is at Victory Road.

Word going around is that some wrestlers were upset that WWE was allegedly only paying Vickie Guerrero $500 per appearance. Those wrestlers need to shut their damned mouths. I’d kill for $500 per appearance with WWE, especially since my take home pay right now is slightly over $200 a week.

The rumor mill is buzzing with reports that Candice Michelle was released from her WWE contract because of her weight. Look, Candice may not have been as thin as the majority of the other WWE Divas, but to be fair, I’ve seen Ethiopians who weren’t as skinny as some of the WWE Divas (coughKELLYKELLYcough).

Further proving he’s a black Brock Lesnar, Bobby Lashley says he’s patiently waiting for a call from UFC, where he wants to fight against the top fighters.

Everybody’s favorite right wing nutjob, Warrior W. Warrior posted a blog on his official website blasting Michael Jackson. CZW (there’s those initials again) wrestler “Halfbreed” Billy Gram attempted a rebuttal to Warrior’s post via the comments, but apparently Warrior’s web team deleted them.

ROH (hey, more guys we don’t get to talk about much around here) is on shaky ground right now, with all of their TV tapings being canceled due to HDNet having enough footage to last them the summer, and only a couple of shows booked this month. We like ROH, and we truly hope they survive this unfortunate setback.

I was going to ask if anybody had $5,000 I could borrow to bail Roddy Piper out of jail, but apparently somebody beat me to it. Hot Rod was arrested under suspicion of driving drunk.

Torrie Wilson’s feelings are hurt, because WWE barely mentioned her when she participated in the 25 Diva Battle Royal at WrestleMania. I’d be upset too if my ring announcement was replaced by a medley of Kid Rock songs.

Finally, some sad news coming out of Mexico, as mini Luchadors La Parkita and Espectrito II (the latter you’ll remember as Mini Mankind in the WWE) were found drugged to death in Mexico City. (The rest of this paragraph is from an article written by Ryan Clark) The police have released that Parkita & Espectriro checked into their hotels after a show on Sunday night and were approached by two prostitutes. The two women spiked the lucha stars drinks and after they passed out stole all of their possessions. The two overdosed on the drugs the prostitutes spiked their drinks with. Police say that this M.O. matches that of a prostitute ring called “The Filtracion” (The Leak) who proposition men and then spike their drinks and then rob the men, but the spiked drinks usually don’t kill (probably because of their size, it killed them). The police have retrieved finger prints from the scene and are confident they will find the two responsible.

Even as I type this column, I’m distracted by the television, where there’s a clip of Michael Jackson’s performance on the Motown 25th Anniversary special, a special that is famous for one thing – Jackson debuting The Moonwalk.  I’d talk more about Michael Jackson right now (for the record, this isn’t his first BWF allusion – I quoted the “BAD” video a couple weeks back in a SmackDown review), but I did that already on my official website.

B. Brian Blair was arrested on allegations of child abuse last weekend.  Maybe he liked the alleged run-ins with the Iron Shiek back in the day and wanted to relive those moments in prison?

Samoa Joe turned heel at Slammiversary to the surprise of, well, pretty much everybody.  Except for me.  Earlier in the night, Kurt Angle cut a promo saying that King of the Mountain would be all about he and Joe, and that when it was over, “WE will be standing tall.”  That’s when I got the feeling that Joe would turn, which proved correct.  For the record, if you didn’t catch Slammiversary, you should.  It was an excellent show.

Not only was RAW commercial free on Monday, WWE refunded the tickets of those who attended the event.  Why doesn’t that ever happen in Buffalo?

Speaking of RAW, despite the fact that Cena brought up his match with Rob Van Dam at ECW One Night Stand a few years ago where the fans continually threw his shirt back to him when he threw it into the crowd, a fan was ejected from RAW for throwing Cena’s hat back to him.  To be fair, it was an ugly hat.  When did John Cena become John Deere anyway?

Cena also confirmed that he’s getting married “in the near future” on the Bubba The Love Sponge radio show.

Speaking of Bubba The Love Sponge, Hulk Hogan was on the show and mentioned that the reason we never saw a big time feud between himself and Jake “The Snake” Roberts is that Hogan didn’t hear the fans react to his Hulking up and pummelling Jake.  Here’s a homework assignment for the BWF readers – go to your local rehab clinic, and if you find Jake Roberts, ask him his side of the story.

Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes are no longer to be called Pricele$$.  They’re now only to be refered to as Legacy.  I guess that’s alright.  Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson weren’t The Brain Busters when they were in the Four Horsemen either.

And before you point it out in the comments, Green Teabagger, I know that they were only the Brain Busters in the WWF.

Torrie Wilson finished second on “I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.”  I have no idea who finished first.   (It was Lou Diamond Phillips, apparently)

Michael Cole was arrested this past week.  No, not that Michael Cole.  A guy whose real name happens to be Michael Cole who wrestles under the name Mikael Judas was arrested for assaulting National Championship Wrestling promoter Donovan Loftis after Loftis allegedly made derogatory comments towards him on an internet message board.

Matt Hardy may have injured his abdominal muscles.  He denied the reports on his twitter page, but we all know Matt Hardy has nothing better to do with his time than trying to work the internet fans.  Ok, listen Matt.  Complaining about losing your job when Amy Dumas and Adam Copeland were in the wrong and not yourself is one thing, and yeah, your internet fans probably got you your job back, but give this “working the internet” shit a rest.  If you’re hurt, dude, we’re not gonna be mad at you for telling us the damned truth for once.

Apparently, CM Punk going to a Rancid concert is newsworthy, with the headline “CM Punk Attends Punk Concert.”  OMG, you mean, CM Punk likes punk rock?  Next thing you know, you’ll be telling me that The Headbangers like heavy metal, or that Disco Stu likes disco music!

Lastly, on a sad note, Billy Red Lyons, who I remember seeing on the WWF’s Maple Leaf Wrestling program when I was little, passed away this week.  BWF’s condolences to his friends and family.

Cody’s rumored to be working with a bad neck, but if it were a serious injury he’d probably already be out for surgery.  Since Primo and Carlito have their little mini feud going with The Hart Dynasty, and there’s a definitive lack of face tag teams for Legacy to defend against, The Colons should retain here.

John Cena vs. The Miz

Are you kidding?  After the way Cena verbally buried The Miz on RAW (“you’re not a reality show has-been, you’re a WWE never was.”), The Miz needs this win.  Needs it.  The problem, of course, is the WWE likes to humiliate The Miz on occasion.  Since they’ve actually been pushing for us to take him seriously, I’m going to go way out on a limb here and actually predict victory – by hook or by crook – for The Miz.

The Great Khali vs. Dolph Ziggler – No Disqualification Match

Khali.  Ziggler’s way out has been to get Khali counted out or disqualified, but all the chairs in the world won’t help Ziggler beat Khali in a no disqualification match.

Chris Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio – Intercontinental Championship vs. Mask match

I’m a global entertainment company.  I have a guy performing for me who is beloved by my younger audience members.  This guy happens to wear a mask, which we sell replicas of at $50 a pop.  The audience is always filled with kids wearing these masks.  Am I really going to make the guy lose his mask?  What am I, WCW?  Look, Vince McMahon did not become a billionaire by dropping hot selling products while they’re still selling.  That’s why John Cena is still a face, and it’s why Rey Mysterio will not be losing his mask this Sunday.  Mysterio will be carrying gold next Friday night.

Melina vs. Michelle McCool – WWE Women’s Championship

McCool made Melina look like her bitch this past Friday on SmackDown.  Melina won’t take that lying down.  I just can’t see Melina dropping the belt on Sunday.

Tommy Dreamer vs. Finlay vs. Christian vs. Jack Swagger vs. Mark Henry – ECW Championship Scramble

I like the Scramble match.  Last year’s PPV where they had three of them was awesome – especially because we got to see The Brian Kendrick as the WWE Champion for a few moments.  This one should be good, and it’s sort of unpredictable, seeing as how three of the four challengers are former ECW Champions.  Finlay has been beating everybody down lately, but Henry had the last laugh this past Tuesday night.  The problem with Finlay and Mark Henry is, they don’t feel like they’ve been groomed for a run with the ECW Championship.  I’m going t o give this one to Dreamer.

Randy Orton vs. Triple H – Three Stages of Hell for the WWE Championship

First fall is a regular match, second fall is falls count anywhere, and the third fall, for some ungodly reason, is a stretcher match.  I have this sinking feeling in my gut that it’s Triple H getting the win here.

CM Punk vs. Jeff Hardy  – World Heavyweight Championship

CM Punk needs the World Heavyweight Championship right now.  If he doesn’t have it, the slow heel turn doesn’t work as effectively.  He somehow steals the victory at The Bash.

You may have noticed I’m running a little late this week – and have yet to post a SmackDown review as well.  Well, I spent my Friday at an amusement park, followed by catching No Doubt on their reunion tour (which was a lot of fun), and of course forgot to set my DVR for my usual Friday fodder, SmackDown on MyTV, and Don’t Forget The Lyrics on FOX.  Unlike DFTL, however, SmackDown doesn’t have a replay shown the next day on the Fox Reality Channel.  I’ll get around to watching SmackDown one way or another and I’ll make sure to get a review up, but I at least wanted to get this week’s ThinkSoJoE’s Thoughts in, since I didn’t feel like it at all yesterday.

Japanese wrestling legend Mitsuharu Misawa passed away just after last week’s column went up, and the word was that he’d had a heart attack right there in the ring.  Word is, that’s not the case, and that the botched backdrop he took just before his death caused a spinal injury which led to his death.  Whatever the case, it was nice to see CM Punk pay tribute to him the next night on RAW.

Speaking of Punk, he’s really coming across great on the mic every time I hear him speak lately.  I think he may also have more clean wins in title defenses in the past week than he had through his entire first run as World Heavyweight Champion.  Hell, I think Rey Mysterio had more clean wins as World Heavyweight Champion than Punk did his first time around.

Oh, and Rey?  Just because most of your fan base wasn’t around when you lost your mask in WCW doesn’t mean the rest of us haven’t forgotten.  Forget about the damned mask and maybe you’ll actually be able to beat Jericho, who outsmarted you at Extreme Rules and on RAW this past Monday.

Ah, RAW this past Monday.  WWE and GE (the parent company of the USA Network) are apparently in trouble over it.  I guess the Securities and Exchange Commission doesn’t like it when you put out press releases touting that you’ve sold off a major brand of a publicly traded company when it’s really just a television storyline.  Who knew?

Also, who knows where Finlay stands at the moment?  Finlay is a tweener, kids.  That means that he’s not a good guy, but he’s not quite a bad guy.  Let  him bash everybody’s skulls in with the shileighleigh for all I care, as long as he’s not dancing around the ring with Hornswoggle.

I’d hate to say it, but Tommy Dreamer needs to drop the ECW title, and quickly.  The match he had with Christian on RAW revealed to me that Dreamer has lost a few steps since his original ECW days.

So Zack Ryder’s finisher is now called the Zack Attack?  I’m with tharvey1 on this, his theme needs to be “Friends Forever.”  I hear Zack Morris is still playing gigs.

“This is Your Life, Rock” it was not.  TNA iMPACT’s opening segment had neither The Rock nor Yurple The Clown.  It did have Samoa Joe punching Kurt Angle in the face though, that was nice.

So was James Storm’s promo.  An interview segment with Raven and Storm both involved would the be the greatest thing in the history of things.

Candice Michelle and Sim Snuka were both released from their WWE contracts earlier this week.  I’d actually forgotten that Snuka was still on the roster.  Congrats to Drowgoddess who was in attendance for his final on-camera WWE appearance as the guy who may or may not have screwed up a spot involving The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 25.  The Divas can all rejoice that there’s one less accident prone Diva on the roster to accidentally injure them.

Interesting note, I played 1 vs. 100 on Xbox LIVE earlier tonight, and one of the questions was “Who beat Randy Orton in a steel cage match in June 2009 to win the WWE Championship?”  Surprisingly, neither “the one,” nor any of the 5 people remaining in “the mob” got the question wrong.  In fact, host Chris Cashman pointed out after “the one” got the next question wrong that she knew her WWE Trivia.

Well folks, that’s it for me, unless I wanted to step on JT’s toes and turn this into a Random Randomness knockoff, which I don’t.  I’ve got no predictions for Slammiversary, other than Daniels beating Douglas, simply because I’ve really stopped watching the show for anything other than Raven, Daffney, and Dr. Stevie.  Goodnight folks!

During our Extreme Rules coverage on Sunday, Drowgoddess and I pondered the fact that Batista hadn’t climbed the cage once in the buildup leading to his match at Extreme Rules against Randy Orton.  He didn’t climb the cage at all during the match either, yet still won the WWE Championship.  After the fact, we found out that Batista had been injured before the show and was scheduled for surgery two days later.  It was originally believed to be a torn bicep, which is a very severe injury, but the word going around is it’s just a torn tendon, not nearly as severe.  WWE, however, says that it’s a torn bicep, which is leading some Internet Wrestling Community pundits to speculate that it’s a coverup for a wellness policy violation.  What do I think?  I think WWE is lying to us, not to cover up an injury, but to add more impact to Batista’s earlier than expected return.  They’ve been doing this for a few years now – John Cena at the Royal Rumble in 2007 comes to mind.  If he did fail a drug test, I seriously doubt they’d have given him the WWE Championship the day before his suspension kicked in.

Speaking of the WWE’s wellness policy, the roster is one Superstar shorter than it was last week as Umaga was released for failing a second drug test and refusing to go to rehab.  The IWC is comparing this to Jeff Hardy’s termination from WWE several years ago for some reason.  TNA is apparently interested in bringing in Umaga once his 90 day no-compete clause is up.

The WWE roster is actually one Diva shorter as well, as Vickie Guerrero has given her notice and officially quit as RAW General Manager last week.  The new GM is scheduled to be named this week on the three hour edition of RAW, which happens to eminate from Charlotte, NC.  I’ll give you one guess as to who the IWC “journalists” expect to be the chosen one.  I’ll also tell you why it won’t be who you’d expect.  The standard recovery time for the The Randy Orton Super Magic Mega Kick of Final Ultimate Death!!! is around four months.  Ric Flair was hit with the move a mere two weeks ago.  There’s no way the WWE is going to try and make us believe that a 60 year old man managed to come back from the devestating move quicker than Triple H or Batista did.  I’m not going to make a guess as to who it will be, but I’m willing to bet that it’s not Flair.

BoredWrestlingFan.com turned 1 this past Tuesday, and in the 369 days we’ve been around, we have never once mentioned Combat Zone Wrestling.  There’s probably a pretty good reason for that, but reports have come in that a CZW wrestler was severely injured doing one of the “company’s” patented light tube spots.  According to reports, a wrestler by the name of Nick Gage severed a main artery after taking a bump on a light tube.  Gage never passed out, instead running to the back in a panic before being air lifted to a local hospital.  It’s said that he lost a lot of blood, and not really knowing what to do the wrestlers started an impromptu battle royal.  The card was apparently taking place in one of the wrestlers’ parents back yard, which is probably why this is the first time we’ve ever mentioned CZW here.  Don’t worry though folks, thankfully CZW’s website reports that Gage is going to be ok.

Rumor was making it’s way through WWE this past week that Rey Mysterio was leaving the company.  These rumors appear to be unfounded as it’s been reported that Rey just wanted the week off.

Speaking of taking time off, John Cena came home early from the WWE’s tour of Mexico amidst rumors that he was getting married.  It was, in fact, his brother that tied the knot.  Cena is allegedly getting married in July.

Not a lot of TNA news this week, but what do you expect when the company tapes a month of shows in two nights?  Supposedly a wrestling website reported that new TNA Knockout Tara (formerly known as Victoria in the WWE) had an affair with Chris Benoit before the tragic murder suicide that ended the life of Benoit, wife Nancy, and son Daniel.  Tara got wind of the report and denies everything, even challenging the site that started the rumor to come to her hometown and watch her take a lie detector test.  It’s about time somebody who didn’t like something somebody on the internet said about them actually did something about it.

That’s about it for this week, but before I go, an interesting couple of tidbits – Batista’s win at Extreme Rules was the first time in WWE history that the WWE Championship has changed hands in a traditional steel cage match.  Also, the span between last Monday (June 1st) and this past Sunday (June 7th) is the first time that the WWE, ECW, World Heavyweight, Intercontinental, and United States Championships all changed hands within a week.

On to the wrestling news for the week.

The big news still on the radar from last week is the sudden release of Mr. Kennedy as details continue to leak.  Word is that Randy Orton complained about Kennedy’s wreckless nature in the ring.  The story goes that Mr. McMahon asked other Superstars about it, and they agreed which led to Kennedy’s release.  Rumor has it that Kennedy is also now a member of the WWE “do not call” list, which is a very exclusive club.

Almost lost in the mix of Kennedy stories are the injuries that Samoa Joe suffered at a TNA house show sometime in the past week.  The former TNA Triple Crown Champion suffered two broken fingers and a torn bicep.  The injuries couldn’t come at a worse time for TNA, as they’ve already taped every episode of iMPACT! leading up to Slammiversary, where Joe was set to participate in the King of the Mountain main event.  At this point, the only thing yours truly would expect is Joe to be taken out by the Main Event Mafia at the start of the PPV.

Chris Mordetzky, better known as Chris Masters, has apparently re-signed with World Wrestling Entertainment.  Maybe he stopped taking steroids and learned how to wrestle, and can actually justify whatever push they give him this time around.

Sting is (allegedly) seriously considering retirement following this year’s Bound For Glory Pay-Per-View.  If he does decide to retire, rest assured that he’d probably stay retired, and also bet your house on Sting being inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame no later than 2011.

Hey, speaking of Pay Per Views, WWE’s changed the name of another one.  The Great American Bash is now simply known as The Bash.  The reasons rumoured for this change include the old name being too WCW sounding, and the fact that if it’s the Great American Bash, you can’t hold it outside of the U.S.

The highlight of this week in wrestling for me was actually watching SmackDown for the first time in over a month.  There were a few great matches on there that made me remember why I’m a wrestling fan.  Edge vs. Rey Mysterio was a definite match of the year contender in my book.

And since it’s a PPV weekend, here’s my predictions for Xtreme Rules!

Vickie Guerrero vs. Santina Marella: Hog Pen Match

My prediction is this match will suck.  For the hell of it, let’s go with Santina regaining her Miss WrestleMania crown.

CM Punk vs. Umaga:  Samoan Strap Match

Time for these guys to move on from this random feud.  Punk wins.

US Championship – Kofi Kingston vs. Matt Hardy vs. William Regal vs. MVP:  four way match

What the hell is extreme about a four way match?  Kingston just won the title on Monday, don’t expect that belt to be going anywhere this soon.

Intercontinental Championship – Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho: No Hold’s Barred

Just as long as Zeus doesn’t get involved, we’re good here.  Rey Rey will find a way to win.  Jericho doesn’t need another IC Title run.

ECW Championship – Christian vs. Jack Swagger vs. Tommy Dreamer: Hardcore match

I know the story here about Dreamer getting one more chance at the ECW Championship, getting a one day extension past today’s original date.  I just can’t see him getting the win.  Christian retains.

John Cena vs. The Big Show: Submission match

I predict myself falling asleep.  Two decidedly non-submission wrestlers in a submission match.  Boring.  Technical guys like CM Punk and Chris Jericho can get away with submission matches, not power guys like Cena and The Big Show.  Anyways, why bother, we all know Cena’s going to win.

WWE Championship – Randy Orton vs. Batista: Steel Cage Match

For crying out loud, what is Batista even doing in a championship match?  The guy sucks in the ring, he sucks on the mic, he is NOT championship material.  Never was, never will be.  I just hope he doesn’t injure Orton, who I’m sure is going over.

World Championship – Edge vs. Jeff Hardy:  Ladder Match

Jeff hasn’t re-signed with WWE yet, and they want him to.  Hardy goes over, believe it or not.

Monday night on RAW, Mr. Kennedy returned to the WWE after being out for a very long period of time with an injury.  What followed was not nearly as surprising – he injured himself in his first match back.  The fans at the Staples Center seemed to enjoy his presense, but that wasn’t enough for the WWE to keep wasting their time with MISTEEERRRRRRR INJURY PRONE!

INJURY PRONE!

Kennedy was back for four days before WWE decided to release him from his contract.  Do you think that TNA would take him, or is he now resigned to work as MISTEEEERRRRRRR FRY COOK?

5/30/09 UPDATE: Rumor flying around is that Randy Orton had some kind of discussion backstage with Mr. Kennedy following RAW, that Orton has considerable influence in the company, and these factors may have been what led to Mr. Kennedy’s release.

ECW color commentator Matt Striker is the center of controversy this week as alleged nude photos of the school teacher turned professional wrestler began circulating the internet.  Internet Wrestling Community pundits are beginning to wonder if this is the sort of thing that could cost Striker his cushy World Wrestling Entertainment job.  In my opinion, if Disney kept that High School Musical girl after her nude pics leaked, WWE will certainly keep Striker.

Buff Bagwell did an interview recently where he said he’d work for WWE for free, and if TNA called him, he’d listen.  Does this guy seriously think he’s got a shot at WWE again?  He was there for all of a week before they fired his ass the first time around.

AOL and Time Warner are set to dissolve their merger after nearly a decade.  Could this mean a new wrestling organization under the direction of Ted Turner is now possible?

WWE has now changed the name of the Unforgiven Pay-Per-View event.  It’s going to be called “WWE Breaking Point” and is rumored to be a submission themed pay per view.  I kind of like the idea, though there aren’t really a whole heck of a lot of submission wrestlers on the roster that I can think of at the moment, so I can’t imagine what the matches would be.

The highlight of my week actually happened on TNA iMPACT! this past Thursday night as my favorite wrestler returned.  During a therapy session, Dr. Stevie put Abyss in a straight jacket, prompting Lauren to come to his rescue.  Through the crowd emerged a familiar face – RAVEN!  The former NWA and ECW Champion took away Dr. Stevie’s kendo stick – and blasted Abyss with it himself!  Raven and Dr. Stevie, the former ECW Tag Team Champions reunited with an embrace in the ring.  Welcome back, Raven!
