  1. Smackdown 07/12/13

One thing I can say, is that I’m glad this is a go-home Smackdown episode. Nothing really will be established and I can rip through it in record time. Since I plan on hitting up the world famous Calgary Stampede for an annual day-night of debauchery, I should get my ass to Mars sooner than later anyways.

    Hopping time…close enough for me!

“I watch, write, suffer, and succumb to this show, yet have to remind myself of what happened only minutes after each episode. That is how G’s Smackdown reviews work. And as J.T. Hogan has observed, it often makes more sense than the program you are actually watching. This is not a play-by-play recap, there’s enough of those online. This is a highly-opinionated take of the show in question.

    – No voice over guy again this week. Perhaps since the WWE parodied TNA’s Gutcheck segment on RAW this week, they are taking a break from mimicking them? I’m taking a break from all the gimmicks I do in my reviews too, so I guess we’re even, huh WWE? I’ll still bring the gif love, though. I’m not that cruel.

    – * Daniel Bryan vs. Christian. Right into the match, and Christian’s stage screen doesn’t display him as Michael Mcgillicutty as it did on RAW. Peeps versus goats, I suppose. The match has a good start, building up intensity as it should. And while we hit commercials with Christian laid outside the ring, it comes courtesy a sick looking flying knee to the head courtesy of D-Bry. Things return to messy sick moves and referee counting. He’s clearly been paying attention to Sheamus’ lessons. An amusing spot has Bryan exchanging kicks to Christian’s knee, while Christian returns the favor with slaps to the face. In a very solid match, Bryan ultimately submits Christian with a No Lock!

    Logo
    Oops.

    – The rest of tonight’s card looks to be very redundant.

    – The Ghost of Teddy Long is talking with someone on the phone, and Dolph Ziggler shows up to chat. News for Ziggler, he has the night off. Since ADR is wrestling later tonight, Teddy does not want any interference. Vickie Guerrero was fired on Monday and for some reason Teddy thinks if a run in occurs tonight he’ll be fired. The fuck? A logic gap so wide…

    Logo
    A goddamn broom.

    – * Jey Uso vs. Seth Rollins. Getting the hype up for the pre-show Youtube match? Great. Seth Rollins more or less dominates this (as he should) to start. Jey gets a wee bit of offensive attacks in, as he “Samoas Up” no selling a few chops. Jey continues with a Rikishi-esque ass attack to a prone Rollins in the corner, and a near fall with some kind of finisher. But Rollins comes back and wraps up this four minute match. The Shield stand atop the announcer table displaying their belts.

    – * Non-Title Match: Curtis Axel {C} vs. Chris Jericho. Again, potential for a good little match. But a meaningless one at that. Non-title, whoop dee doo. Notwithstanding, it’s still a highly watchable match. Paul Heyman’s facials take the cake, as the two deliver in the match. Jericho is doing his best to help make this guy (albeit, is too much damage already been done?). Axel ultimately is counted out and Jericho wins. I don’t think that helped Axel’s push at all, and I have to wonder if he will retain the title on Sunday…

    Logo
That’s how it’s down. Screw the gun.

    – No plot development really this week, as we just once again hop into another bout. I’m not complaining, but am having a tough time with being invested since all the matches of significance are on Sunday. Regardless, it’s a nice break from some of the crap this show can deliver on occasion.

@Charles Barkley @G: “What I’m saying, G, is that I’m convinced if I put the Kane mask on, I can win the MitB match.”

@G @Charles Barkley: “I am still convinced people will know you’re not him. Plus he’s out of the match.”

    – * Ryback vs. The Miz. Yawn. FFW on 2/5. The highlight of the match is when Ryback feigns his knee injury shtick like when he couldn’t finish the match, then takes out Miz with the ShellShock. Post match he continues to sell his injury. I don’t know what to think about this.

    – Backstage Renee Young interviews Unmixed Strawberry Yogurt about the All Star MitB match. Sheamus rambles on about how the Irish chased the snakes out of Ireland, and not being afraid of heights. He promises to win and take the briefcase. Then he hits on Renee a bit. Great.

    Logo
Sometimes you have to slow down and smell the foot kicking you in the face.

    – Teddy Long is in the ring with a whole lotta Divas for a contract signing between AJ Lee and Kaitlyn. AJ notes that no one cared about the Diva division until she won the title (sadly true). AJ is cut off from her rant by Long to shut up and sign the contract. AJ continues to berate Kaitlyn and lists off her messages to her secret admirer which buries Natalya, The Funkadactyls, and further cyber bullying. AJ attempts to use this to manipulate Kaitlyn into backing down. Nope. Kaitlyn drops the “C” word, gets a smack from AJ. So Kaitlyn shoves the table and AJ seated on the other side into the corner of the ring trapping her!! Then she proceeds to pummel the shit out of her, until Biggie Smalls pulls her off the table. Wow! That was surprisingly entertaining and awesome. Well, I’ll be damned. I’m more interested in that than anything I’ve seen tonight.

    Logo
Give the guy a break, he’s dead after all.

    – * Fandango vs. Wade Barrett. Another match I could give a shit about. I’ll watch it, that’s part of the deal. But not with my FULL attention. What to say here… hmm… Coulter is on commentary with Swagger and Cesaro standing looking on. Team Rhodes Scholars comes out and starts yelling at them, this distracts Barrett, and Fandango rolls up Barrett for the win. Wow.

    Logo
    It’s not his fault.

    – Clips of the Bray Wyatt family debut on RAW. Great stuff, loved the segment. Hated the “Husky Harris” chants, but fuck those smarks. They’re probably the same pricks online complaining about the WWE not making new stars. Good job, fuckwads.

    – * Alberto Del Rio vs. Sin Cara. Why? Blue lights last seconds, fortunately, since most people hate those. Sin Cara starts heavy and hard on the offensive, and is surprisingly awesome, but that’s because it’s Dolph Ziggler under the mask. The announcers act the fool, but last time I checked, Sin Cara doesn’t have blond hair. EXCUSE ME! The fuck? Vickie is back shrieking about being fired, and that Teddy Long should be fired for this. I think, I can’t understand her. Teddy Long makes his way out. “On Monday Night, Stephanie McMahon had two words for you: You’re fired. Well, tonight I have one word for you: Security!”. She is escorted from the arena, and lord knows how in storyline mode she actually was allowed into the building. Oh well, that was surprisingly fun. Next up? Yawn.

    Logo
Not so fast fella, Goat powers include amazing agility and speed.

    – Teddy Long walks up to Sin Cara asking him why he’s here, thinking it was Dolph Ziggler. Then Ziggler jumps into the shot, thanking Long for the night off. Shenanigans involving Ziggler and Sin Cara? Weird. Just plain weird.

    Logo
    App? App? App?

    – * Sheamus vs. Randy Orton (Fandango Classic Rematch!). Fuck this. Remember WHY the fans started doing the dance on the RAW after WM29? Because, this. I FFW through all of this. Until the end when Daniel Bryan runs out, pulls a ladder from beneath the ring and uses it to hit both the robot and the yogurt simultaneously. He then proceeds to go for the briefcase (for some reason), but Sheamus thwarts him. Then Christian runs in, more thwarting, but is reverse thwarted. Another reverse thwart. Daniel Bryan pushes the ladder over, tossing Captain Charisma to the outside, attempts to climb, Nope! Randall Keith Orton Cheeseburger’s the Goat and climbs for the fake MitB contract. Orton gets it, but IT MEANS NOTHING! He stares at it intensely, possibly wondering why the hell this is the end of the show.

I criticize because I care. I did enjoy the show. I wouldn’t watch if I didn’t love this shit.

  2. Top 5 Wrestlemania Moments

Ahhhhhhh Wrestlemania. The very name conjures up countless images which have both thrilled and entertained millions upon millions of people, never failing to lose its appeal in almost 30 years. It’s actually scary for yours truly to think that the very fist ‘Mania I can recall was way, way back in 1990 – when the “Immortal” Hulk Hogan was set to square off with the lunacy that was The Ultimate Warrior. Title for title, muscle-bound behemoth versus muscle-bound behemoth. It’s surely an iconic moment in the history of World Wrestling Entertainment and serves as a welcome reminder of just how much excitement Wrestlemania can cause.

  3. “Impact” Impressions 11/11/10

Sorry it’s so late, peeps. Between the job hunt showing no sign of ending, Veteran’s Day (my dad is a veteran), and my friends having their first baby Veteran’s Day morning, I’ve been stretched a bit thin. Benjamin Barker Edgecomb has now joined the world of pro wrestling fans (Hey, both parents are wrestling fans, so this kid isn’t getting away from it!), and if you catch the reference there, you win. At life. 😛 (more…)

  4. WWE Superstars Results

What’s up, my peeps?!  Are you ready for another stellar WWE Superstars? (I hope you caught on to the sarcasm)

Match 1:  Alicia Fox vs Gail Kim

This was your standard, crappy Diva’s match.  Alicia Fox wins after she knocks Gail Kim off the top rope and hit her scissor kick.  Oh, Scissor me!

Match 2:  Zack Ryder and Primo Colon vs Yoshi Tatsu and Goldust

The only one worth caring about here is Zack Ryder.  I’m super glad that he is a “Pro” on season 2 of NXT.  Ryder got the win for his team when he hit the Rough Ryder on the Golden One.

Replay of the NXT season 1 cast’s attack on John Cena, CM Punk, Justin Roberts, the WWE crew, and the WWE ringside area from RAW.

Main Event:  Kofi Kingston w/ Joe Hennig (I refuse to call him Michael McGillicutty) vs Luke Gallows w/ Serena

At least we get one Upper Mid Card guy tonight.  Kofi gets the win with the S.O.S.

That’s it for tonight.  Check back next week for another outstanding episode of WWE Superstars.

  5. WWE Superstars

Let’s just get into this shall we.

Match 1:  Gail Kim vs Jillian Hall

I think I have a great idea for Superstars.  The show should just feature diva’s and contenders for the US and IC titles.  At least then, the show would make some type of sense.  Instead, we are forced to see random matches that make no sense except to give some of the talent a little bit of exposure.  Anyways…Gail wins with her jaw breaker finisher.

Match 2:  Zack Ryder w/Rosa Mendez vs Primo

I guess this will be the last time we see Ryder and Rosa together, as she was drafted to Smackdown in the supplemental draft on Tuesday.  Ryder should be pushed into the US title race soon.  Maybe with Edge on RAW, we can get some type of storyline between them.  Ryder wins with the Zack Attack.

Match 3:  The new Unified Tag Team Champions The Hart Dynasty vs The Dudebusters

Those title look natural with the Hart Dynasty.  David Hart Smith is looking a little less pudgy these days and has gotten a lot better in the ring.  For some reason, Matt Striker called Natalya “Lady Gaga”…ok???  The Hart Dynasty wins with the Hart Attack.

See ya next week, my peeps.

  6. WWE Superstars

Hey, everybody! I hope you enjoyed Wrestlemania 26, but now its time for the WWE’s D show (maybe F show…I’m not sure if AM RAW beats Superstars in ratings or not.  I haven’t checked on that.)

Match 1:  Kofi Kingston and MVP vs Zack Ryder and Carlito

Kofi and MVP get the win after Kofi hits Carlito with the Trouble in Paradise.

Match 2:  William Regal vs Yoshi Tatsu

Yoshi gets the win with a kick to the head.

Match 3:  Hart Dynasty vs Caylon Croft and Trent Baretta (The Dudebusters)

Tyson Kidd forces Baretta to tap out with the Sharpshooter after hitting the Hart Attack.  Hopefully this will be the build for them to become Tag Champs

Alright, Peeps.  That’s it for this week.  It’s another random Superstars and thus another random results column.

    Peace out

  7. WWE Superstars

Hey, my Peeps!  I’m back from a 2 week hiatus.  I have been out of town skiing.  Let’s get this thing started.

Match 1:  Jillian Hall vs Kelly Kelly

Jillian comes out first and sings a Miley Cyrus song.  Kelly Kelly interupts with her entrance.  I don’t like diva wrestling, but Kelly Kelly has gotten better.  She is still nowhere near good enough to be an in-ring performer.  Why can’t WWE get women who can actually wrestle?  How does TNA get women who look good, but can also wrestle?  Anyways…Kelly Kelly wins with a Leg Drop to the back of Jillian’s head.  Michael Cole called it the Kelly Kick.  I guess we can go with that name for now.  Too much time was devouted to this craptacular match.

Match 2:  Shelton Benjamin vs Vance Archer

This match should not be on ECW as a top level fued for the show, so  Superstars is the right venue for this one.  I hate Archer’s tramp stamp too!  This match is really clumsy tonight.  Vance Archer is normally pretty aggressive and physical, but going into the commercial break, he really hasn’t displayed it in this match.  We come back from commercial, with Archer in control.  He is starting to be more dominant, but still seems slow and unsure of what to do.  I’m not sure what to think of his character.  The fans are really dead on the guy, but Shelton isn’t getting much pop in this match either.  Josh Matthews and Byron Saxton even commented on how boring this match is by saying not to fall asleep.  The clumsiness of this match is mind-boggling.  It’s no wonder that Shelton Benjamin has never been pushed to the main event level.  The guy can’t carry a match with a guy who is clearly low-level at this point.  It wouldn’t surprise me if Archer was released during the next batch of firings.  Shelton gets the win over the undefeated Vance Archer with a very anti-climactic role up pin.  This match was awful.

    Ask the Divas….yawn

Main Event:  Chris Jericho vs Kane

Random main event match for Superstars…what else is new???  WWE has missed so many opportunities with Kane.  He can be pushed to be so dominant if creative will just book him correctly.  I also feel as if they have sort of ruined Chris Jericho’s persona.  They have him cowarding out to everybody right now.  They need to freshen him up a little bit.  However, this might be the best main event we have ever had on Superstars.  These two guys are Hall of Famers in my opinion.  The match goes to commercial with Kane flipping over the top ropes and to the floor below.  When was the last time a match didn’t go to commercial after someone went to the outside?  Back from commercial and this match really picks up.  It ends when Jericho cowards out of the ring and walks away for the countout.

Alrighty then…see you guys next week for another Superstars.

  8. The War on… 2009

Welcome to the War for another week.

There is no column for week, so this is the last time you will hear from me in 2009.

This piece would be a.. best of, so to speak. A year in review, if you will. However, with my new year’s plans, becoming reality in… 11 hours from now, and with preparation and packing underway as I type, I just don’t have the time, to write a massive piece.

However, and this I promise, the first column, typed from my fingers, thought of from my mind, will be right here, at BoredWrestlingFan.com, that I will guarantee.

Now, I leave you with the thought, that if Brett Favre didn’t exist. I would be odds-on to win my NFL Fantasy League. However, I’m now playing for third place.

Peace out my peeps, see you in 2010.

  9. WWE Superstars

Happy Hallloween to all my Peeps!  Let’s get this thing started already.

Match 1: Jack Swagger vs Primo

Jack Swagger has yet to lose since he made the declaration that he would not lose for the rest of the year.  The match starts off with a wrestling exhibition by Swagger.  Primo’s quickness seems to trump Jack’s power, until Swagger catches him. Primo fights back with another quick burst, but Swagger’s strength proves to be too much for the younger Colon.  The All-American American gets the win with the Gutwrench Powerbomb.

    Ask the Divas segment….boooooooooo!

Match 2:  Kelly Kelly vs Alicia Fox

Kelly Kelly is hot!  Alicia Fox is not!  That’s really all that is important about this match.  Alicia Fox wins with the Ax Kick.

Backstage:  Hart Dynasty and Mike Knox talking about their gameplan.

Match 3:  Woo Woo Woo!  You know it!!!  Zack Ryder vs Tyler Reks

I know my buddy RDLee hates him, but Zack Ryder is a star!  I originally wasn’t sold on him, but he has slowly grown on me.  He is, however, wearing some God awful silver boots for this match.  Tyler Reks needs to learn how to walk properly.  This was a back and forth match, where both guys got in offense, but Zack Ryder wins with the Zack Attack.

Match 3:  Hart Dynasty and Mike Knox vs Cryme Tyme and R-Truth

Hey WWE, segregate much???  It’s funny how the Hart Dynasty and R-Truth were hugging on Sunday, now they hate each other again.  Oh how brand warfare unites.  Kidd and JTG start things off.  Very even matchup until Knox gets the tag.  Knox then comes in and overpowers JTG.  JTG makes the tag to Shad and things even back up.  Knox tosses Shad to the outside, as they go to commercial.  When the match comes back on the air, Shad is fighting back and Knox makes the tag to David Hart Smith.  DH tags in Kidd for a quick kick to the back and Kidd tags in Knox for a back splash.  Shad makes the tag to Truth and Knox tags in Kidd.  Truth handles his business until Knox lands a big boot.  JTG clotheslines Knox over the ropes, DH gets the big boot on JTG and Truth tosses DH over the ropes.  Truth hits the Lie Detector for the win over Tyson Kidd. WHATS UP?!?!

Have a safe Halloween and I’ll see you next week.  Peace!

  10. WWE Superstars Review

What’s up, my Peeps?!  Hope all is well in your world.  I’m back following an absence last week…sorry.  While I may be a tad tardy to the party this week, this review is getting done.  And here…we…go!

Match 1:  Kelly Kelly vs Gail Kim

I think everybody knows how I feel about diva wrestling by now.  Thus, you just get the results here.  Kelly Kelly defeats Gail Kim.  I think Gail turns on Sunday.  Raw needs another heel diva.

Match 2:  Ezekiel Jackson and Vladimir Kozlov vs Tommy Dreamer and Golddust

I like Big Zeke and Golddust, but could care less about the other two.  The finish sees Dreamer hit Kozlov from behind and Golddust hits the Flatline for the win.  After the match, Jackson and Kozlov attack Tommy and the Bizzarre One.  Zeke is a future World Champ IMO!

Main Event:  Matt Hardy and R-Truth vs Drew McIntyre and Eric Escobar

Matt looks really fat in those tights that he insists on wearing to the ring every week.  R-Truth should be an IC title contender.  Drew McIntyre is pure gold.  Eric Escobar IS fat.  McIntyre hits Hardy with his DDT for the win.  They are intent on pushing their young talent on Smackdown…catch a hint RAW!

That’s it for this week everybody.  Peace!!!
